Klimt 1918 "Undressed Momento"

::: Review taken from Ad Arma! :::

Perhaps Francesco (from My Kingodom Music; Mery's note) is right to push his native land's group as new sensation for emotional/atmospheric Rock/Metal scene, as Klimt 1918 (whatever this name might mean) do show some quality behind their sincere compositions. Of course references to Katatonia (mostly) and softer Opeth with Anathema (in addition) are more than evident and it is not just their own problem. It is always like that after the tremendous success that certain new musical direction gains. You will witness a million of followers who want to be like their heroes, blindly or not so much repeating what was already done. A bad thing, named as a trend you know.
Do Italian dudes try to be different? Hum, I have heard their music many years ago, and then the band was called Another Day playing still atmospheric but Death/Doom Metal oriented music. So, there is a kind of pattern after all: they have not jumped on Katatonia band wagon yesterday, and they have not switched the styles drastically. So, do they try? In some compositions, yes. Mostly vocally, but then also instrumental part of music slightly varies for new emotions, every once in a while. Of course it is not easy to get rid off these stamps and clichés but… clever artists always find a solution. Seems like Klimt 1918 search for inspiration in other music than Rock/Metal too, but this is an ongoing process, it must still develop. Yet don't get me wrong – this debut album sounds more than ok, it is just about my pretentious nature that rejects most of music that is quite evident copycat type of something done before.
