I think that most people agree with me when I say that
music is an art. The Italian band Klimt 1918 really
confirms that…
The whole concept with music and lyrics are, according to the band, related
to the art of Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). My knowledge of this person are
strictly limited, but I saw one of his paintings
hanging on the wall at my friend's place who is
interested in art. After my first listening of the album I made a quick
check on the web to look at some more stuff from the artist. Enough spoken
about the art, let's get down to the music.
First of all I must say that it is impossible to place Klimt 1918
in an existing genre. I'm not even going to try to
compare them to another band. I do can say that this is not any extreme
music and I could even give this album to my mother for her birthday. The
songs are soft, atmospheric but not that melodic. The singer Marco
Soellner has a fantastic voice. He reminds me a bit of Michael Kiske
(ex-Helloween) as he sounds on is solo albums. "Dopoguerra"
is an album that demands a lot from the listener. I can't
fully understand it even though I've listened to it
more than ten times. Usually I never hesitate when it comes to rate an
album, but this time I do. Klimt 1918 is a band
that no one could hate, and for me it's hard to
love. By the whole it's a really interesting album
that everybody should lend an ear and then
make an own judgement. It's been said before:
it's not meant that normal people
should understand art.
