I think that most people agree with me when I say that music is an art. The Italian band Klimt 1918 really confirms that…
The whole concept with music and lyrics are
, according to the band, related to the art of Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). My knowledge of this person are strictly limited, but I saw one of his paintings hanging on the wall at my friend's place who is interested in art. After my first listening of the album I made a quick check on the web to look at some more stuff from the artist. Enough spoken about the art, let's get down to the music.
First of all I must say that it is impossible to place
Klimt 1918 in an existing genre. I'm not even going to try to compare them to another band. I do can say that this is not any extreme music and I could even give this album to my mother for her birthday. The songs are soft, atmospheric but not that melodic. The singer Marco Soellner has a fantastic voice. He reminds me a bit of Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween) as he sounds on is solo albums. "Dopoguerra" is an album that demands a lot from the listener. I can't fully understand it even though I've listened to it more than ten times. Usually I never hesitate when it comes to rate an album, but this time I do. Klimt 1918 is a band that no one could hate, and for me it's hard to love. By the whole it's a really interesting album that everybody should lend an ear and then make an own judgement. It's been said before: it's not meant that normal people should understand art.
