Klimt 1918 "Undressed Momento"

::: Review taken from Inferno Magazine, Finland :::

Thanx a lot Tapio for both the English translations!
And also thanks for having said that my site looks very cool,
that the amount of information is really impressive
and that you like when you find lots of info about a band!
I truly hope you'll spend some more time on my site,
since you say that Klimt 1918 are a really promising band
and that you expect good things from them in the future.
... Finland rocks! Perrrkeeele!!!

Rewiew no. 1...

Klimt 1918 is four Italian musicians who have a metal past, wear make-up, listen to The Cure too much and are interested in the art from the beginning of the last century. Everything said in last sentence is, save from the band's home country, just my own guessing, based on the group's first album "Undressed Momento". I believe, however, I'm not that much wrong.
Klimt 1918 is not one of those bands that can be categorized easily. At the bottom there is some kind of gothic rock, that has traces of pop and metal. The melodic interplay between guitars and vocals is probably band
's biggest strenght. Marco Soellner's thin voice can't carry on through the whole album though, and badly used out of tune in a couple of tracks (at least it sounds like that) isn't really pleasing to ear. On the other hand, his interpretation has a lot of emotion, which fortunately comes through in the band's playing and the songs as well.
I have a tendency to like bands who listen to The Cure too much, and so I like Klimt 1918 as well. And especially if the impressive closing track
"Stalingard Theme" gives any clue what kind of music can be expected from the band in the future, the horizon looks pretty fine for both the band and the listener.

... and no. 2!

Atmospheric pop in the spirit of Anathema and Katatonia. Klimt 1918 doesn't actually even try to be a metal band (except a little in the last song), and even in its darkest, the band's sound is fresh and airy. The songs are good, and they are served by simple arrangements. Maybe Klimt 1918 is some sort of art music, but the talk about Novembre's follower is not completely without foundation. I recommend warmly, especially to all friends of 'atmospheric metal'
