... ::: Live dates! ::: ...

::: 26/01/2006 ::: The chosen song for the radio program's been "If only you could see me now", from the debut album "Undressed Momento", complete with dedication to the undersigned, to this fansite and obviously to the guys from Klimt 1918. Thanks a lot to Giorgio & Cinzia (... what cool those bandits of Backyard Babies in the opening! And glad that you also played "Make a star" by Dope Stars Inc.).

::: 25/01/2006 ::: Tonight, from 24:00 to 01:30, there's Beat! - http://radiocittafujiko.it/home/onair - and if everything works right, even one song by Klimt 1918 should be included in the play-list.

::: 22/01/2006 ::: A beautiful interview with Marco from Klimt 1918 taken from Distorsioni (sooner or later available even in English!); thanx Boda!

::: 12/01/2006 ::: Bcs of one speaker's fever, the radio program mentioned only yesterday has been postponed (probably to the next Wednesday); what a pity for the missed radio passage of Klimt 1918 during Beat! :/

::: 11/01/2006 ::: From 24:00 to approx. 02:00 of tonight, try listening to Radio Città Fujiko -  http://radiocittafujiko.it/home/onair - and you'll have the chance to hear Klimt 1918 (as well as Dope Stars Inc.!) and some cool glam/street metal (glitters forever!). Considering is my birthday, you must absolutely make me a dedication. Shine on Skunky!

::: 07/01/2006 :::  Let's start the new year with a recent review of "Dopoguerra" taken from Silent Scream  (thanx a lot  Dario for informing me!).
While I was spending my Xmas holidays in Rome, I had the chance to meet Paolo from Klimt 1918 and I've known that lately the Promo 2000, "Secession makes post-modern music", has been reprinted as digipack edition; at the moment copies are already over, but will be soon available again and I'm already lookin' forward to get mine ('Viva Secession')! Paolo also told me about some future gigs as support to a couple or three important bands of the rock/metal scene, but since you can never tell, I just don't wanna write anything for the time being. Let's hope to know some more and with certainty soon, directly from them. So stay tuned for more news...

::: 27/12/2005 :::  Back finally to you with some nice live shots taken during the  'Dark Day Fest.' right here; thanx a lot Nutshell for sending!
I just wanted to add that I didn't absolutely know that the 2 foreign dates in Wien & Budapest of early this month had been already cancelled about one month ago; I hope the band will recover 'em both soon!
Well then, Happy New Year to you all out there! ... I'm gonna leave for Rome!!!

::: 10/12/2005 :::  Awaiting to receive some live pictures from the 'Dark Day Fest.', here are some old Italian interviews done with Marco when the debut album "Undressed Momento" was released, which escaped my notice, respectively taken from Heavy-Metal.it, Metallized & Silent Scream.

::: 04/12/2005 :::  Just a couple of lines to begin this new month, announcing the release of "Trama" by En Declin from Rome, for My Kingdom Music: on track # 8, "Isquosadmove", you can hear some additional vocals by Marco from Klimt 1918. And, since I'm here, I tell ya that has been even released the new "Collecting shells at Lighthouse hill" by Room with a View, always for the same label, as the artwork & layout of the slipcase limited edition, as well as the (wonderful!) multimedia graphic, have been carried out by Paolo Soellner himself. I've been telling all the times that you can breathe some good air in Rome...
I just wanted to also remind you about the next gigs of Klimt 1918, this Wednesday, the 7th, in Milan, @ Rainbow, in occasion of the 'Dark Day Fest.', as well as the 2 dates abroad and namely:
the 9th, in Budapest, @ Marco Polo Club and the 10th, in Wien, @ Monastery Club.

::: 27/11/2005 ::: "Dopoguerra" reviewed on other Italian web-magz: Hate Tv, Heavy-Metal.it and Versacrum!

::: 20/11/2005 ::: Other Italian reviews of "Dopoguerra" taken from Indiezone, Onda Rock and SentireAscoltare.

::: 12/11/2005 ::: Some Italian reviews of "Dopoguerra" taken from Metallo Italiano (thanx Gino!), Munnezza and  Zeromagazine.

::: 06/11/2005 ::: Here is another Live Report of the gig at Zoobar in Rome of 20/10, taken from Babylon Mag. (thanx Tiziana!). I've also added a couple of interviews done with Marco, one taken from Sensorium, and another recent taken from Benzoworld (and there is even the review of "Dopoguerra" from this last one, but it's everything only in Italian, sorry).

::: 31/10/2005 ::: "Undressed Momento" reviewed on Distorsioni, as promised by Boda (thanx!) who, among other things, has even dedicated to Klimt 1918 a proper file in the 'Artists' section.
I've also added some pictures of the Springtime Fest. in Milan of 09/05/2004, taken from http://opethpainter.altervista.org (thanx Eugy!).

::: 29/10/2005 ::: Here is the Live Report of the gig at Zoobar in Rome of the last Thursday 20/10, taken from HMP - Heavy Music Portal (thanx Gino & Francesco!).

::: 18/10/2005 ::: "Dopoguerra" reviewed on Distorsioni; thanx Boda! I also wait for the review of "Undressed Momento". I just wanted to remind you about the gig of Klimt 1918 @ the Zoobar in Rome, this Thursday, the 20th of  October: have fun!

::: 09/10/2005 ::: Interview to Klimt 1918 taken from the Italian mag. Metal Maniac, as well as original interview taken from Ritual; thanx Goth Friend for sending it :) Just recently I've noticed that even Klimt 1918's got their own 'space' on 'MySpace' - that's right - so, if you're into that kind of stuff and you didn't know it yet, you can have a look at  http://www.myspace.com/klimt1918 even if, as for me (since I'm acid & old style, that's well known, ha, ha, ha) the only positive notes I can find, are those from  "Sleepwalk in Rome" which so far, I think, you couldn't 'officially' listen to directly from their website and neither from mine. Yeah, it may be of interest for those who doesn't know well the band or this song yet, of course. Modern times...

::: 02/10/2005 ::: ... September is over already?!? Let's see to begin the month of October finally putting on line my live report of the M'Era Luna translated into English, for all of you visitors from abroad; better late than never...

::: 22/09/2005 ::: ... the gig just mentioned a few lines below of this Saturday 24/09, has been completely cancelled, due to some technical problems not depending on the band :/ Luckily, I didn't plan to go there... The gig of the 20/10 remains confirmed instead!

::: 18/09/2005 ::: Interview to Klimt 1918 on Ritual # 22 of July/August 2005 (it's in Italian). Then, I just wanted to remind you that the next Saturday, 24/09, Klimt 1918 will support Velvet in Castel Gandolfo, Rome (Spiaggia del lago), and that for this gig is available a reduction list for the ticket of entrance, since you can send your details to info@klimt1918.com, saying that you're interested in attending the gig and so, once there, you can pay a lil' bit less than the actual cost of the ticket. Well, of course, this is mainly for the Italian kids, but you guys from abroad stay tuned for more dates coming soon, as the band should also come back abroad for some gigs, hell yeah! Furthermore, Klimt 1918 will play again in Rome, at the Zoobar, on Thursday, the 20th of October. Unfortunately, I'll miss both these couple of dates :/

::: 10/09/2005 ::: Back to you! And here it's even the Live Report of the M'Era Luna (which I haven't translated into English yet, sorry!), as well as some live pictures shot to the guys during the gig.
I also just wanted to let you know that it's out the debut album of Dope Stars Inc. - in which also plays Alessandro from Klimt 1918 - "://Neuromance", that has been released for the well known Trisol, even voted as 'New Industrial Rock Highlight' on the pages of the last issue of the mag. Sonic Seducer.

::: 29/07/2005 ::: Greaaat party - last day of work: finally some deserved and so long waited rest even for Wild! ... well, not so much actually, since I'll have to drive for 6 or 7 hours tonight for reaching the seaside, and even because in a couple of weeks I'll be leaving again for the M'Era Luna Fest., in Hildesheim.
I leave you with a few live pictures at the School's Out Festival, held the 6th of July in Luedenscheid, Germany (thanx Torrie for sending and for the short live report of the gig above-mentioned!), as well as with the news that has just been opened a chan dedicated to Klimt 1918 - #klimt1918 exactly - on the server of Azzurra, just in case someone of you out there used mIRC for chatting (thanx Linea 'Scura for the information), as you would've probably already read directly from the blog of the band.
Talk to you again in September, with further reviews of "Dopoguerra", but especially for my live report and the pictures from the M'Era Luna! HAVE A SPLEEENDIIID SUMMER!!!

::: 21/07/2005 ::: ... and here is even the interview from Grind Zone, as mentioned a few lines below! Thanks Roberto from Resurrecturis for sending!

::: 17/07/2005 ::: Here is the review of "Dopoguerra" taken from the Italian extreme mag. Grind Zone. In the same issue there is also an interview to Marco, but since I've just come back from the (R)Evolution Fest. of yesterday on the lake of Garda (wonderful location), now I don't have the chance to scan it and honestly I'm pretty tired to typewrite it all; maybe later on.
Then, here is a 'preview' one of the t-shirts of the new album, at the moment only available through the mailorder  www.grau.cd; thanks Fede for sending, at least someone can order it havin' a look of what kind of stuff it is and not with eyes closed.
It's confirmed that Klimt 1918 will play on Saturday 13/08 inside the Hangar, during the next edition of the M'Era Luna Festival, summer gig which I've been attending for several years by now; here is the whole program
In the end, I just wanted to mention a few links to my site on some other Italian fansites dediated to Tool, A Perfect Circle and Dark Tranquillity (man, what a great gig yesterday afternoon!!!) - as well as on the site of  Federico Romano. Thanks guys for the link; I've already returned you the favour some days ago...

::: 10/07/2005 :::  I've added a new section, Tabs, including some guitar tabs of a few songs from Klimt 1918. There are just a couple of new ones, those of "Snow of '85" & "La Tregua", made by Erik and Zac: thanx a lot guys for sending!
The live pictures of the gig at Jungle have been included even in the live report published on issue no. 6 of  Novamuzique (thanx Paolo!); those of Alessandro have been shot by Francesca anyway (hell-ooo!).
P.S.: ... have you read on the blog of the band that on 24/09/2005 Klimt 1918 will support Velvet in  Castelgandolfo (Rome)?!? In 2001 they played with Novembre and
VII Arcano, nowadays together with Velvet: times are changin' ...

::: 05/07/2005 ::: ... I just can't tell ya so much about Klimt 1918 'coz, as I already imagined before I left, I haven't been able to hear 'em rehearsing (considering that they played on Sunday, after 6:00 pm, when practically I had to already catch my train for coming back to Florence), even if on Saturday nite I've been however able to meet Alessandro at Jungle. As for the rest of the week-end, he, he, he... there would be a lot of nice things to tell ya about and this is definitely not the right place to do it, but I will talk with someone of you privately for sure :) Hail Ciz' for the company (we make folklore, of course!!!). Just cheer up yourselves with an excellent review of the new record taken from Music Boom (man! It's in Italian, but more English reviews are coming soon!).

::: 01/07/2005 ::: A very nice and exhaustive interview (in English, yeah!) to Paolo, taken from Grande Rock; thanx Thanos for informing me and for the future link to my fansite! P.S.: I'm spending this week-end in Rome and I hope I'll be able to meet the guys from Klimt 1918! I'll tell ya later on...

::: 26/06/2005 ::: ... and finally, here there are even the pictures shot to those guys from Klimt 1918 in Florence, in front of Palazzo Pitti, the day after the gig of Interpol, on 17/04/2005: the flash of my camera must have had such an effect on them, since they always came out with the eyes closed :D

::: 25/06/2005 ::: Finally some live pix shot during the gig of Klimt 1918 at Jungle, Rome, on 07/05/05 here.

::: 20/06/2005 ::: Another couple of (Italian) reviews taken from Rumore - 5 points out of 5! I mean: Klimt 1918 have had the better of much more well known bands such as Coldplay  3/5 - White Stripes 4/5 - Audioslave 2/5 - Billy Corgan 1/5 - Foo Fighters 2/5 - Oasis 3/5 - Bryan Adams 2/5 - Limp Bizkit 4/5 - Ikon 3/5! Honestly I haven't listened to all these records, except some singles, but I think it's cool! (thanx Ale for the original and also thanx Dario for the written text!) and from Sensorium (well 2 different reviews!).

::: 18/06/2005 ::: Another Italian interview taken from the pages of Metal Shock! Thanx my Goth Friend ('but how much are you Goth?!?) for sending it!

::: 17/06/2005 ::: ... another link to my fansite on Taxi-driver (thanx Massi!). Hey, have you seen the beautiful new template for the blog of the band? Great Eugy!

::: 15/06/2005 ::: An exhaustive (Italian) interview taken from Metalinside.it (thanx Leo for the info!).

::: 09/06/2005 ::: "Dopoguerra" reviewed even on the dark pages of the Italian mag. Ritual, taken just this morning from the bookstall.

::: 05/06/2005 ::: Here also are some reviews from abroad, taken from Grande Rock (surprise of April 2005, even if it's already June :P), Lords of Metal (which mistaked ours Klimt 1918 for a Spanish band :D) and Metal Review.

::: 02/06/2005 ::: Another couple of very good Italian reviews for "Dopoguerra", respectively taken from Disintegration (thanx Gino again! ... and thanx a lot even for the link on the tearsite of his Spellcraft :D) and Noizeitalia!

::: 30/05/2005 ::: You can find my live report about the gig of Klimt 1918 held at Jungle, the 7th of May, even on issue no. 6 of Novamuzique; thanks to Paolo from Kardia, which I suggest you to listen to (greaaat band!), for giving me this chance!

::: 29/05/2005 ::: Another couple of Italian reviews, taken from Dheadbangers and DK666.tk.

::: 28/05/2005 ::: A few Italian reviews taken from Metal-Empire, Soundscape (thanx Ali for informing me!), Taxi-driver & True Metal (and thanx Gino for the information!).

::: 23/05/2005 ::: Some live pictures from the Wave Gotik Treffen right here (thanx Alessandro for sending!), as well as a few others, directly from the photo-gallery of Metalius.

::: 22/05/2005 ::: "Dopoguerra" is Top Album on Kinetic! And there is also a very good review taken from Eutk! Furthermore, I've added a sort of review for the debut album "Undressed Momento" taken from the Italian blog Soundscape, written by the same girl who has also reviewed the new album on Kinetic and which I'm confident is really worth reading!

::: 19/05/2005 ::: "Dopoguerra" is 'Highlight' of the week on Babylon Magazine! Thanks a lot Massimiliano for informing me!

::: 15/05/2005 ::: A few lines about the gig of Klimt 1918 in Rome of the last week-end here. I hope that the live pictures shot during the gig come out well, so that I'll be able to add 'em soon on the site.

::: 13/05/2005 ::: A couple of reviews taken from Metalinside.it (both written in Italian): the one of "Undressed Momento" (better late than never :) ) and the one of "Dopoguerra".

::: 11/05/2005 ::: I completely forgot to mention one of the most interesting sections from the multimedia track of the limited edition of "Dopoguerra" and namely 'So far', sorry :P
The live report of the gig in Rome is coming soon...

::: 04/05/2005 ::: Perhaps this Saturday I'll be able to make a flying visit to Rome just for the gig of Klimt 1918 at Jungle... Have a look at the playbill of the gig right here.

::: 02/05/2005 ::: So... did you get your own copy of "Dopoguerra"?!? I hope so! I can't really stop playing the cd (well, yeah... the cds are two, considered the second cd enclosed to the digipack edition of the new album) in these last days (... don't let me tell ya which other new album I'm playing lately or I'll lose my face in the metal scene, ha, ha, ha!!!). If I think that one month's already passed since I got the promo copy from Paolo, I can't believe I haven't been able to write a few lines about the new songs so far. On the other hand, someone already knows that it's not been a very nice period for me lately, even if I've always tried to get distracted as much as possible writing on this site. Therefore I hope I'll be able to talk about the new songs soonest, maybe driven by the listening of the above-mentioned second cd, which also contains a couple of new songs and a remix of which I'm already mad about, he, he, he... I just want to remind you that the digipack edition contains a rich multimedia section, with very interesting stuff for the fans of the band and that I'm right here to shortly tell you about, just in case you hadn't got your own copy of "Dopoguerra" yet. First of all, I have to tell you that in the background you can hear the opening motif of "Snow of '85" (it's sooo beautiful, isn't it?) and this already makes the visit much more pleasant :) As to the various real sections, you can find:

† Dopoguerra † ... containing some questions that you'll probably like asking the band before, during or after listening the new album, about the concept of the record and the relative lyrix, their musical influences, what kind of feelings they're trying to tell to the listener and so forth.

† So far † ... an interesting section full of pictures taken during the recording sessionsof the new album at The Outer Sound Studios (there is also Giuseppe from Novembre, of course :D!), the drum gear, the mastering, the 3 different cover versions of "Dopoguerra" (which one do you prefer? Personally I'm mad about the final one!) and more...

† Song by Song † ... containing a few lines of introduction to the subjects of the lyrix and to such musical aspects of the songs.

† Lyrix by Lyrix † ... containing all the lyrix of the tracks, included those of the two news songs from the second cd (because I don't know if you had a look to the booklet of the new cd: it really seems that we'll have a big headache even this time, when it comes to read the lyrix, man :D).

† Lyrix by Lyrix (handmade) † ... which is exactly the same section said above, just containing the lyrix handmade, as in the booklet (just in case your head wasn't spinning already enough, you know :P).

† Klimt 1918 are † ... and namely a few info about the members of the band.

† If only you could see me now † ... picture of the band (the one you can already found in the section 'Pictures' of "Dopoguerra", in which Davide is in version "Casablanca" :D and that I repropose even here.

† 10 questions to Klimt 1918 † ... containing exactly about ten questions for each member of the band and relative answers about what they think of the new album, the recordings completed and the equipment used, which are their fave songs and why, what this new record means for them and what about their hopes for the future, as well as the personal musical influences which may come out from the listening of the new material.

† Made by † ... and namely all the info concerning the recordings of both these cds (which you can more or less even find in the section  'Discography' of "Dopoguerra") and however about all those who've contributed to the release of this new record.

† Please go to † ... some links of labels, recording studios, graphics, pictures and so forth (there's even a link to my fansite :D!) involved in the release of the new record or however with the band.

† Don't quit without... † ... leaving a comment for "Dopoguerra ", and namely how launching a direct web connection with the band from the multimedia section.

† Bye-Bye † ... Several thanks and final greetings (there is me once again!!! Great Mery!!!).

Sounds good, doesn't it?!? If I was you, I would immediately look for it, if you hadn't done it already!!!
I would've had to also add some new reviews from abroad tonite, but for the time being I'll include just the one taken from DeBaser, that is in Italian, so that I'll have more time to translate all the others.
I wanted to conclude with the news of early this month, just sincerely thanking all those whom, with their messages and words have been close to me in these last days, included the guys from Klimt 1918  ... We are just a moment in time ...

::: 26/04/2005 ::: Today I received the newsletter from Audioglobe distribution, announcing me the release of "Dopoguerra". The digipack edition will arrive in my records shop only the 29th of April and I'm already lookin' forward to get my own copy and listening to the songs which compose the bonus cd (and that an acquaintance of mine has already had the chance of hearing... this makes me angry :P). Here is the official statement from Audioglobe for release of "Dopoguerra":

ASTONISHING ALBUM FOR THE ITALIAN KLIMT 1918! The four-piece is influenced by the 80's ROCK WAVE of U2 (just listen to the first song "They were wed by the sea"!), The Cure, Depeche Mode, Police, Japan, The Smiths, Tears For Fears, from the IMMORTAL melodic lesson of The Beatles, from the atmospheric GOTHIC METAL of ANATHEMA, OPETH, KATATONIA, EDGE OF SANITY, from the neorealist cinema of De Sica, Visconti, Rossellini and from the pictorial genius of Gustav Klimt! The Roman band has already released a debut album "Undressed Momento" for the Italian label My Kingdom Music, but the new "Dopoguerra" for the German Prophecy is a REAL MASTERPIECE in this way. Klimt 1918 are  clever in creating very clear and crystal melodies, in an exciting following of solar and gloomy vibes one after the other, with a 'movie' sound achieved thanks to the work of Giuseppe Orlando (from Novembre). "Dopoguerra" is pure poetry made music! DON'T HESITATE: IGNORING THIS ALBUM WOULD BE A CRIME!

Meanwhile, the radio interview foreseen for the 25th, has been postponed to the next week, as I've just read on the blog of the band.
And in the end, here is a very good review of "Dopoguerra" recently appeared on Kronic.it (First-Rate album - in Italian only).

::: 24/04/2005 ::: New reviews of "Dopoguerra" on arrival: here you are some taken from Harm Magazine, Heavy Music Portal (Spot On Album - in Italian only), Metalitalia (Hot Album - in Italian only), Metallus (Spot on Album - in Italian only), Metalspheres and Tartarean Desire. Furthermore, the band is gonna be interviewed for an Italian radio program called 'Alternitalia' exactly tomorrow, 25/04/2005, in occasion of the release of the new album.

::: 17/04/2005 ::: For this afternoon I thought I would've completed a few translations of reviews of the new record to add 'em on the website... But then, around lunch time, I got a message from Paolo, the drummer of Klimt 1918, telling me that he was in Florence! Yeah, I knew that someone from the band would've been here for the gig of Interpol of Saturday nite, but I was sure that they would've immediately left for Rome right after the concert, and instead... So I meet Paolo, Alessandro (all hooded and behind and a pair of sunglasses dark that I hadn't even recognized him!), Marco and Marta (Marco's girlfriend) waiting for me in the centre of Florence! And so we greeted, talked about the gigs of the nite before (but I've attended the one of Amoral/Naglfar/Finntroll \m/ ) and then had a walk around there, stopping and sitting down in a well known square of my town, tryin' to enjoy the spring sun that went and came (I also shot some pictures and I'll put 'em on the website, sooner or later... included the one of Paolo who, before we said goodbye afterwards, bought a mega-trolley to contain all his equipment in view of the coming summer gigs!). It really seems that there won't be any release party for the new album :/ To make up for it the warm up gig at Jungle in Rome should've been changed from Friday, the 6th to Saturday, the 7ht of May and I, obviously, am already thinking to go there... By the way, it's gonna be a long hot summer for the band, as the Wave Gotik Treffen and the Metal Camp are just a couple of fests to which ours will take part... stay tuned!!!

::: 14/04/2005 :::  A couple of good news as regards the next live gigs of the band: Klimt 1918 will play on 15/05 at the celebrated 'Wave Gotik Treffen' that is held every year in Lipsia, Germany (this year is from the 13th to the 16th of May)! And just a few days before, the band will also play a 'warm up' gig at the Jungle of Rome, exactly on 06/05 (... man: is Friday! And I can't go there, 'coz I have to work!). Cool, isn't? The worst thing is that perhaps there won't be any release party for "Dopoguerra", since the guys will have to rehearse a lot in view of their first apparition to such an important festival. What a pity! I really hoped to spend such a night in the capital for the release of an album... But I should be in Rome the same during those days, wanderin' among the city's ruins, to greatly conclude my stay with the gig of AnathemA and Porcupine Tree.

::: 09/04/2005 ::: A couple of new reviews taken from Resurrecturis & Shapeless Zine. Since both are written in Italian and I'm not used to translate them into English, I just wanted to let you read a few words by the reviewer from Resurrecturis, saying as follows after reading my opinion about the drums parts on this new record: "Dopoguerra" is really a sensational album. And the more I play it, the more I like it. I think is even more mature than "Undressed Momento" and the drums parts, actually, are one of the winning points of the whole record... There a lot of passages which aren't banal at all that emphasize songs already wonderful in themselves. I think I'm not wrong if I say that Paolo is one of the more fanciful drummers that the present rock/metal scene can be proud of.

::: 30/03/2005 :::  Today I received my promo copy of "Dopoguerra" (thanx Paolo!!!). I was very pleased to get the cd: now I know how I'll while away the wait before having in my hands the real new album (complete with bonus cd and enhanced section!) even if, by now, there's only about one month from here to the official release. Really, nothing better but concluding even this month of March listening again to the new songs. It's curios... Although have passed well three months from the first (and only) time I had the chance to hear these new songs, I perfectly remembered some... some musical passages, some verses, some vocal lines, some not... and exactly those I remembered less and of which I had perhaps talked about a lil' less at the end of December, presently are those I'm liking the more (I'm playin' track no. 5, "Nightdriver", endlessly! It's such a beautiful one! ... got my head in the clouds first time I heard it or what?!? I just wrote a couple of lines...). By the way, I will talk again about the new stuff more in detail soon... hopefully... Now I'm ravished too much by the listening to be able to write something more and I have to go...
I forgot! I've added a new photo of the band in the section Pictures of "Dopoguerra" (thanx Ale!!!); have a look right here!

::: 28/03/2005 :::  Another couple of reviews of "Dopoguerra" taken from Chronicles of Chaos and Get Metal.

::: 23/03/2005 :::  It's necessary a lil' correction: I've just been told that the studio pictures mentioned in the previous news, aren't relative to the recording sessions of the new album, but to those of "Undressed Momento". Is the band who put 'em on the official website a lil' bit late or just me who noticed 'em only recently? Ok, I know I'm a lil' bit in the clouds (...), but on the other hand it wasn't neither specified and so I took for granted that concerned a more recent period... Have a look the same!

::: 20/03/2005 :::  The second part of the recording sessions of "Dopoguerra" at the Herzog Studios should be finished by now, since the last message left on the blog of the band, dated 11/03, announced that these were almost over. Meanwhile, another couple of reviews: a not very positive one of "Dopoguerra" taken from My Revelations (indeed, this is not a 'metal' work) and one of "Undressed Momento" taken from Harm Magazine (awaiting that of the new album). I've also added a couple of nice pictures of Marco and Davide, shot during the recording sessions of "Dopoguerra" at the The Outer Sound Studios, in the section Performers, but you can find a lot more in the Gallery of their official website (P.S.: There are also Giuseppe and Massimiliano from Novembre :D !!!).

::: 10/03/2005 :::  Here you another very good review of "Dopoguerra" taken from Vampire Magazine (thanx Felix for remembering me :D!).

::: 01/03/2005 :::  Nice way to greatly begin even this month with a couple of good news directly from the website of the German Prophecy Productions! "Dopoguerra" will be released the 25th of April and you can already delight your ears, hearts & minds downloading a brand new song - and namely "Snow of '85", that was the song I liked most from the first listening of the new record (man, I can't stop playin' it :D!) - from the mp3 section of the label itself. Paolo Soellner, drummer of Klimt 1918, says that the new album will include 'nine pieces of comforting, ::: Dopoguerra - front cover :::emotional music, inspired by the intensity of laughter born from the tears'. As the label itself adds, for ages, the end of a century has always been characterized by a weird tension, a feeling of renewal, melancholy. When the 19th century is over, Gustav Klimt is going to become the pioneer of the 'Wiener Sezession', integrating parts of everything that surrounded him at that time into his art. If you immerse yourself in his soft-coloured paintings, if you search for the symbolic meaning behind the compositions, then you'll begin to understand why the Italian act Klimt 1918 has chosen this artist and his year of death as monicker. Their music contains elements of a great similarity to Klimt's art: it features mosaic-like soundscapes and is painted in soft hues and all these parts are joined together as an intense canvas. With their new album Klimt 1918 paint the slow convalescence of a person, the end of an inner conflict. The songs draw inspiration from the poor people living in Italy in 1945 who, having survived the war, have now to confront with the future. And the band also says of being inspired by the poetry of neo-realistic cinema, by directors such as De Sica, Rossellini and Visconti. All these sources of inspiration have been translated into their music to convey a feeling of ambiguity to the listeners: salvation and despair at the same time.
Then the label talks about musical influences of Klimt 1918, saying that their style is something that goes beyond only combining other acts' music, as their work's got originality and boundless musicality, though reminding you of some other bands such as the Beatles, Cure, Interpol, Tears For Fears, U2, The Police, KatatoniA or AnathemA. The band concludes saying that its aim is moving the listeners with their music, which may sound easy to say of course, while Klimt 1918 brilliantly succeeded in doing this instead, and as seldom happens.
As already mentioned in the past news, "Dopoguerra" will be released both as a normal jewel case version at a special price and even as a limited digipack version including a bonus cd. Also watch out for the enhanced section of the cd, including news, pics, interviews and more about our Klimt 1918 adored!
Here is the complete tracklist of the new album according to the label:

And in the end, it seems that ours will take part to one of 3 days of the Metal Camp, which will be held in Tolmin, Slovenia, from the 24th to 26th of June 2005 and that the Prophecy's arranging an European mini-tour right during the period of release of the new record, though all must be still confirmed. Let's cross our fingers :) !!!
P.S.: ... did you know that the guitarist Alessandro is now also part of Dope Stars Inc. ?!? Look at his pose :D (he's the first on the left).

::: 23/02/2005 :::  I thought that the second cd which will be released together with the special limited edition of "Dopoguerra", would've been recorded again at the Outer Sound Studios of Giuseppe Orlando from Novembre, while I read from the blog of the band that ours have instead entered the Herzog Studios about ten days ago. Further to the piano passages of which I've already written a few lines below, there will be added some 'cello parts too (performed by Fabiola). I have to say that I'm very curios to hear what kind of sound will come out... The track-list of this second cd should be the following:

† They were wed by the sea (rarified version)
... a symphonic & completely re-recorded version of the same song taken from "Dopoguerra".

† Never Ever
† Cry a little
(both unreleased so far)

† Driving at the end of the night
... that's just another song taken from "Dopoguerra", and namely "Nightdriver", but completely twisted and re-recorded...

... plus some remixes of which the band can't tell us anything yet!

... aren't you dying with curiosity?!?

::: 13/02/2005 :::  Some more reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from HM Portal (plus interview, but it's in Italian only, sorry!), Metal Kings, Metal Vox, Prog-résiste and Vibrations of Doom.

::: 05/02/2005 :::  Nothing better than beginning this new month announcing you that around the middle of February Klimt 1918 will enter again the studio to record the material which will be included on the second cd that's gonna be released along with the special limited edition of "Dopoguerra" (which should contain, as already previously said, 4 songs more: a couple of remix versions of songs taken from the new album itself, as well as another couple of acoustic songs of which, one never realised - edition that must absolutely be mine!!!). As I've learnt from the blog of the band, meanwhile ours have started rehearsing together with Francesco Sosto, who had already played some keyboards passages for the intro of the new record and that you'll hear again even in some of these additional songs said above.
In the end, I've also added another couple of very good reviews of "Undressed Momento", respectively taken from Metal Wave and Noizeitalia (but are written in Italian only, sorry!).

::: 29/01/2005 :::  ... and there's also a link on Opeth.splinder.com (but this fansite is written only in Italian!) and on Shock! Magazin; thanx a lot to Eugy and Szilvia!

::: 23/01/2005 ::: I've added another short rewiew of "Undressed Momento" taken from Darker than the bat; furthermore, there's a link to my fansite even on Metal Fanatix from New York!

::: 08/01/2005 ::: As Marco & Paolo had already informed me during my stay in Rome at the end of December,  Prophecy Productions will unleash a special limited digipack edition of the new album "Dopoguerra", which further to the songs already mentioned earlier, will also include other 4 tracks and namely a couple of remix versions of songs taken from the new record itself, as well as another couple of acoustic songs (of which one never realised so far). But unfortunately the deadline is now fixed for April 2005... we can't do nothing but waiting for some other month!

::: 31/12/2004 ::: I've just returned from Rome, where I spent about three days really entertaining. And thanks to Marco who came to meet my friend and me (together with Fabio Brienza from Charcoal, formerly Another Day, who unfortunately leaves after a while) and to Paolo Soellner (who kindly gave me with the sticks he used during the recording sessions of "Dopoguerra"!) and however to their hospitality, I also had the chance to hear the new album of Klimt 1918. Besides the chat about the release of the new record, with Marco we also recalled with pleasure (and even with some nostalgia) the past times and gigs we attended, as well as some historic bands of once (Marco has stuck in his room the same old picture of Carcass as me, "Necroticism" era (and we also both remembered from which metal mag. it exactly came from, he, he!); he showed me too some t-shirts which maybe nowadays we don't wear so much often as in the past, but of which we're not really able to deprive ourselves (especially this of Katatonia, with the old red logo of the band! Stuff to steal, trust me!).

As regards the new album "Dopoguerra", having listened to each song just once (except the one I liked the most, and namely "Snow of '85", which I heard  just another couple of times more!), I'll try to write the best I can my opinion about the new stuff. I have to really say that I'm lookin' forward for this new album to be released, as is truly wonderful: it's definitely got a less metal mark than "Undressed Momento", but possesses a huge impact the same, even thanks to great sounds and a superb production.

The record begins with an 'Intro', just like the debut album of a couple of years before; this time it doesn't recall any movie, but is referred to the radio announcement of the liberation from the German occupation of 1945. In the background there are some piano parts and even kind like the breath of a person. I really had a feeling like 'liberation'.

'They were wed by the sea' starts immediately after, with its old-fashioned guitars recalling U2; however, who had the chance to catch Klimt 1918 alive, already knew this song, since the band was used to play it since about one year. Sounds are grand, bass parts can all be easily heard (as in the rest of the whole record) and Marco's voice is always more beautiful or rather, is of a beauty not of this world!!! And then the drumming in the final is spectacular. I didn't remember this song was so powerful and intense.

'Snow of '85' is the song I've immediately asked Marco to play again, once the new cd was over. It's definitely the song which has at once remained pleasantly impressed upon my mind, even after just one listening! It's got such a dreamy melody that I can't tell you about, with some piano touches here and there and guitars which vaguely remind U2 once again. In the refrain is perhaps a lil' bit powerful, but thanks to the keyboards in the background, I can still feel that dreamy and nostalgic vibe of the song. It's a real crescendo, both vocal and musical, trust me. In the central part, when it gets lightly slower, there are some synths passages and a rhythmic section very particular, almost... 'wintry'! Yeah, it really seems like snow is falling! This song truly ravished my heart. Splendid!

'Rachel' is inspired to the memory of Rachel Corrie, as Marco reminds me later, the 23 years old American woman, belonging to the International Solidarity Movement, fighting for the right to have a place for the people from Palestine, and who tragically died in March 2003, crushed under a bulldozer in Rafah (and of whom Marco had already talked in the blog of the band, in March 2004). Since the first passages, you can clearly hear rock influences of the old U2 even in this song. Bros Soellner's performance is great, one at the voice and the other with his fantastic drumming and even the central break with guitars is beautiful. This song reminded me a lil' bit of "Naif Watercolour" from the debut album.

'Nightdriver' is a song particularly quiet, which inspires me tranquillity. As it goes on, maybe it gets a lil' bit heavier, but remains equally catchy.

When 'Because of you, tonight' starts, Marco says 'Rock'n'roll!', and infact this is one of the most immediate songs from "Dopoguerra", much more essential, if I can say like this, of the other previous songs. The chorus is a vortex of notes, awfully involving. Guitars riffs sound like the best ones taken from "Undressed Momento". Interesting the vocals by Marco in the central part. The conclusion is great, absolutely rock'n'roll!

The title-track 'Dopoguerra''s got once again a very rock'n'roll drumming or rather, let's even say that is probably the best drumming of the whole record; guitars still remind of U2, but are truly powerful and vocals lines are so lovely: you know, sometimes I think about Marco's voice as a male version of
Lene Marlin, don't know if you know her (I write the name of this female vocalist a bit smaller, because I can't really imagine what you'll think about such a comparison, but at times he truly gives me this sensation :D!).

'La tregua'
arrives right after and musically has reminded me a bit of the opening track 'They were wed by the sea'; probably is a lil' bit slower than the opening one. Once again the drumming is great here, especially in the final passages. Guitars work vaguely reminds of  "Stalingrad Theme" from the debut album.

In 'Lomo' we can find a very pop and dreamy use of the vocals. The music is literally involving from the beginning to the end and certain guitars parts sound very wave and also remind of  Novembre. Together with  'Snow of '85' (and the next final song), definitely the song I liked the most from the first listening.

'Sleepwalk in Rome' is just another musical crescendo, which worthly and intensively closes the dances. The central instrumental part vaguely reminds  of The Cure and you can't even think about how beautiful is listening Marco again singing in Italian in the final part of the song! I was so ravished by his voice that I forgot to write down the verses he was singing :P! If they ever include this song in their live set, I'm confident it'll be a memorable moment!Yeah, I really think that the finale with the Italian verses is the top of the song, nevertheless one of the best moments of the whole record. Even guitars sound truly charming.

This certainly is a record in which we can still find some musical influences from more well-known bands that we also recalled after having listened to the debut album, but this time ours have undoubtedly managed to filter 'em better than what done in the previous "Undressed Momento", that's how. It's definitely much more intense, of impact and direct than good part of the songs from the debut album and I'm already lookin' forward to find in the shops, 'coz I wanna hear it again!!!
I also had the chance to give a look at the artwork and the layout of the booklet, but unfortunately I fear I can't tell you anything yet about this, sorry, if not that is coming out an excellent work!
And so I conclude this 2004 wishing you a very Happy New Year, especially to all the beautiful people I've known through this fansite or however thanks to the music of Klimt 1918!!!

::: 11/12/2004 ::: I've just added further enthusiastic reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Beyond Webzine, Jackal Blaster, Metal Fanatix, Metal Judgement and Metallus

::: 05/12/2004 ::: ...and as the rain keeps falling (like Opeth sing :D), I just wanted to begin this new month of December with another couple of interesting Studio Reports taken from Eutk & Metallus. Both are written in Italian, but if you check the site of Eutk - or click here - you can see some nice pictures of the band together with Giuseppe Orlando...

::: 30/11/2004 ::: Here is the Studio Report taken from Metalitalia, as well as an interview to Marco and his personal comments to 5 new songs that Luca & Valentina had the chance to hear during the prelistening of "Dopoguerra": nice way to end November, don't ya think? The Studio Report and the interview are written only in Italian sorry, but I've translated for you the comments to the new songs so that you can have an idea of the new material! If you check the Studio Report directly from the website of Metalitalia - or just click for the link here - you can also see a picture of Marco & Paolo Soellner, together with Giuseppe & Carmelo Orlando (who wears the t-shirt of Klimt 1918!) from Novembre and the luckies Marco & Valentina. Oh, how I would've liked being there as well...

::: 21/11/2004 ::: All you guys from abroad probably don't know that Marco has dabbled in singing a cover of a song called "Vedrai Vedrai" - that you can dowload even here, if the link works correctly :P, otherwise you can visit the blog of the band and download it there, just check the date November, 16th 2004 - originally performed by Luigi Tenco, an Italian singer of the 60's, who unfortunately tragically died, committing suicide, during the biggest Italian musical performance, named 'Festival di Sanremo'. I've thought it would've been of interest for someone of you out there hearing Marco singing completely in Italian such a song, that isn't typically the same kind of stuff he's used to do with Klimt 1918 instead. All was born during Autumn 2003, together with the keyboard-player Francesco Sosto (who also played a short intro for one of the new songs - "They were wed by the sea" - which is gonna to be included in the forthcoming new album "Dopoguerra") and  his Embyro Trio. Meanwhile, it seems that Klimt 1918 have already started working on the 'new' songs...
I wanna hear "Dopoguerra"!

::: 14/11/2004 ::: Here are the original flyers for the release of the demo-tape "Youth - The castle of illusions" of Another Day: flyer # 1, 2, 3 & 4.

::: 13/11/2004 ::: Thanks a lot Leo for linking me on Metal Inside.it :D

::: 08/11/2004 ::: I've also added some new photos of the band in the section Pictures; just have a look. Thanks a lot Alessandro for sending!

::: 07/11/2004 ::: As already told me in the past days, the mastering of "Dopoguerra" will be done at the famous Finnvox Studios of HELLsinki, which have seen already well-known bands such as H.I.M., Moonspell, SentenceD, The 69 Eyes as protagonists (just to name a few). From the blog of Klimt 1918, I learnt that the drummer Paolo & Zaelia Bishop (pls, visit his beautiful website at http://www.zaeliabishop.com) are taking care of the artwork for the new album, while for the cover has been chosen again a picture and it seems that it won't contain  so many colours, but we can't know more for the time being...
I've just added another couple of reviews, one of "Undressed Momento", taken from Nivis-regnum, and another one about the Springtime Fest. - to which even Klimt 1918 took part during May - taken from Metal Inside.it (both in Italian, sorry!).

::: 30/10/2004 ::: Thanks to Wankerness (aka Erik Dietrich), you can download a couple of tabs of Klimt 1918, and namely those of "Parade of Adolescence" - http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,14498 - and "Naif Watercolour" - http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,14268. The software Powertab can be downloaded for free at http://www.power-tab.net/. It may be of interest, even for who doesn't play, bcs can easily listening to the musical file (and maybe sing along)!

::: 24/10/2004 ::: Another couple of reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Doom-metal, Imhotep 'zineMetal Storm and Primal Agony (and the same review can be found even on Walls of fire), as well as an interview from Moonlight Shadow (that's in Italian only, sorry!). If I was you, I'd particularly stop on the one taken from Imhotep, that is pretty original, since practically is kind of a nice story which seen as protagonists the leaders of some fundamental bands to which even our Klimt 1918 would refer to.

::: 23/10/2004 ::: Yeaaahhh! I can finally tell it to everybody, cool! As already preannounced me a couple of months ago by Paolo, when I met him during the Agglutination Metal Fest., Klimt 1918 left My Kingdom Music (even if the deal provided the release of a second album too) and signed for the German Prophecy Productions, the label of the various Antimatter, Autumnblaze, Blazing Eternity, Empyrium, Ewigheim, Green Carnation, In the woods..., Leakh, Tenhi, The Vision Bleak...  Here is the message directly from the web-site of the label:

New Prophecy Signing - Klimt 1918 - 22.10.2004

Italian hopefuls in melancholic music,  Klimt 1918,  will release their new album via Prophecy next year. After nostalgic notes of the debut "Undressed Momento", the new album "Dopoguerra" exceeds melancholy and  forces to go ahead and to hope. Nine songs of comforting  and emotional  music. Klimt 1918 combine the Italian atmosphere of artists like Canaan or MonumentuM with the melancholic rock of Anathema and Katatonia. You'll need of it like the smile that's born from tears.

Obviously I can't be but very happy for the band, 'coz their music will surely reach a lot of persons more than in the past, though MKM had undoubtedly done an excellent work with the debut album. The funniest thing of tonite has been the phone message received from Alessandro: 'Hi Mery, this is Ale from K1918 - I have to give you some important news!'. So I gave him a ring (he thougth I was sleeping, while I was already at work on the website writing about such news instead :D), he told me about the news and I told him that actually I already knew everything since time, he, he, he!!! Guess he was a lil' bit astonished...
By the way "Dopoguerra" should be released early next year and therefore we must patiently still wait for a few months! ... but I can't wait any longer!!! By the way, stay tuned for some more news coming soon...
Here also are a few lines from the previous label My Kingdom Music, about the band's departure from its rooster:

Klimt 1918 - Bye Bye my brothers in decadence

While everything was ready for the "Dopoguerra" recordings, we have to announce with pride and a little bit of sure bitterness the passing of the friends Klimt 1918 to the label Prophecy Productions! The cult German label and its boss Martin Koller were really impressed by their debut and offered to the band a deal that was not possible to refuse. I was glad to permit the band to reach this dream and sign for them even if our deal was not closed yet. I want personally wish to the band a great future of satisfactions and success.

::: 10/10/2004 ::: He, he, he... I was sure I kept it somewhere, though it took me a while to find it: the flyer of Another Day and the release of the demo "Youth - The castle of illusions". And there is also the review of the demo itself taken from issue no. 2 of Grind Zone, dated April/May 1997.

::: 03/10/2004 ::: I've just added another couple of Italian reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Hardsounds and Metal-Empire (from this last one there is also the review of the promo "Secession makes post-modern music"... better late than never! Thanx FreezingMoon! It's been a pleasure talkin' a lil' bit with you about Novembre...).

::: 26/09/2004 ::: I'd like to particularly talk about Charcoal and the record "Flowers in the cement", that I had already mentioned for sure some months ago (and there was also something about this record personally written by Marco in the blog of Klimt 1918, late February, but in Italian only :/ so here is Wildhoney that perhaps can translate something of interest for you out there), that is one of the most beautiful and intense records that since then continues to be very often the ideal soundtrack of some days of mine. Here you can find some lines about Fabio Brienza's debut solo project, formerly ex-vocalist & guitarist of Anothery Day... Very amusing note: I ask Fabio which actually is the cover of the album, the one I think - and namely the picture from the homepage of the band site - or the other one 'with the poles of the current' and the white outline and he answers me: 'the cover is the white one, with the picture at sunset on the entrance of the Industrial Archaeology Museum in Rome'. Poles of the current, yeah, of course...

::: 18/09/2004 ::: The band has just completed the guitar's sessions for the new record and now Marco's gonna record the vocals - cold permitting, he, he, he! Here is the track-list of "Dopoguerra":

They were wed by the sea
Snow of '85
Because of you, tonight
Rachel
Dopoguerra
La tregua
Lomo
Nightdriver
Sleepwalk in Rome

::: 12/09/2004 ::: Here is another link to the 'well-made fansite for Klimt 1918' of mine (thanx Emily!) from another fansite dedicated to Six Feet Under (even better than the official one!).

::: 11/09/2004 ::: And as promised me before leaving for summer holidays (thanx Ares!), here is the interview taken from Kinetic. Here below you can find one of the answers I've particularly liked more than all the others and that, as already happened me to do for the conclusion of the interview taken from Psycho! in August 2003, I'd like to mention even here, because (except the last two sentences of course, since I'm not from Rome! - 'Eur' is an area of Rome) it made me think back to the beautiful week-end spent in the capital for the Summer Day in Hell of a couple of months ago. Marco has to explain in an image, if possible, the world in which the music of Klimt 1918 let us plunge into and he answers as follows:

Driving in the dark of the night through the streets of Rome.
In summertime, the smell of limes in bloom,
the hands put out of the windows towards the wind.
The evident inkling of distant fires which burn,
ears that buzz, hair in front the eyes.
The mouth breathes in clouds of memories which have the same,
cool, consistence of the air.
Staring at very distant things on the horizon
and getting lost in the thought of absent persons since a long time.
Closing the eyes, letting go to the nocturnal silence
just broken by the going of the motor which trudges.
The walls painted green, lukewarm after the daily sultriness.
The resolute tracts of Eur
in the middle of lil' woods of oak trees and larches,
the liquid faces of the prostitutes
walking the strees as shading of flesh.
The grandeur  of my neighbourhood
tasted when all ends and all starts.
