... ::: Live dates! ::: ...

::: 31/12/2004 ::: I've just returned from Rome, where I spent about three days really entertaining. And thanks to Marco who came to meet my friend and me (together with Fabio Brienza from Charcoal, formerly Another Day, who unfortunately leaves after a while) and to Paolo Soellner (who kindly gave me with the sticks he used during the recording sessions of "Dopoguerra"!) and however to their hospitality, I also had the chance to hear the new album of Klimt 1918. Besides the chat about the release of the new record, with Marco we also recalled with pleasure (and even with some nostalgia) the past times and gigs we attended, as well as some historic bands of once (Marco has stuck in his room the same old picture of Carcass as me, "Necroticism" era (and we also both remembered from which metal mag. it exactly came from, he, he!); he showed me too some t-shirts which maybe nowadays we don't wear so much often as in the past, but of which we're not really able to deprive ourselves (especially this of Katatonia, with the old red logo of the band! Stuff to steal, trust me!).

As regards the new album "Dopoguerra", having listened to each song just once (except the one I liked the most, and namely "Snow of '85", which I heard  just another couple of times more!), I'll try to write the best I can my opinion about the new stuff. I have to really say that I'm lookin' forward for this new album to be released, as is truly wonderful: it's definitely got a less metal mark than "Undressed Momento", but possesses a huge impact the same, even thanks to great sounds and a superb production.

The record begins with an 'Intro', just like the debut album of a couple of years before; this time it doesn't recall any movie, but is referred to the radio announcement of the liberation from the German occupation of 1945. In the background there are some piano parts and even kind like the breath of a person. I really had a feeling like 'liberation'.

'They were wed by the sea' starts immediately after, with its old-fashioned guitars recalling U2; however, who had the chance to catch Klimt 1918 alive, already knew this song, since the band was used to play it since about one year. Sounds are grand, bass parts can all be easily heard (as in the rest of the whole record) and Marco's voice is always more beautiful or rather, is of a beauty not of this world!!! And then the drumming in the final is spectacular. I didn't remember this song was so powerful and intense.

'Snow of '85' is the song I've immediately asked Marco to play again, once the new cd was over. It's definitely the song which has at once remained pleasantly impressed upon my mind, even after just one listening! It's got such a dreamy melody that I can't tell you about, with some piano touches here and there and guitars which vaguely remind U2 once again. In the refrain is perhaps a lil' bit powerful, but thanks to the keyboards in the background, I can still feel that dreamy and nostalgic vibe of the song. It's a real crescendo, both vocal and musical, trust me. In the central part, when it gets lightly slower, there are some synths passages and a rhythmic section very particular, almost... 'wintry'! Yeah, it really seems like snow is falling! This song truly ravished my heart. Splendid!

'Rachel' is inspired to the memory of Rachel Corrie, as Marco reminds me later, the 23 years old American woman, belonging to the International Solidarity Movement, fighting for the right to have a place for the people from Palestine, and who tragically died in March 2003, crushed under a bulldozer in Rafah (and of whom Marco had already talked in the blog of the band, in March 2004). Since the first passages, you can clearly hear rock influences of the old U2 even in this song. Bros Soellner's performance is great, one at the voice and the other with his fantastic drumming and even the central break with guitars is beautiful. This song reminded me a lil' bit of "Naif Watercolour" from the debut album.

'Nightdriver' is a song particularly quiet, which inspires me tranquillity. As it goes on, maybe it gets a lil' bit heavier, but remains equally catchy.

When 'Because of you, tonight' starts, Marco says 'Rock'n'roll!', and infact this is one of the most immediate songs from "Dopoguerra", much more essential, if I can say like this, of the other previous songs. The chorus is a vortex of notes, awfully involving. Guitars riffs sound like the best ones taken from "Undressed Momento". Interesting the vocals by Marco in the central part. The conclusion is great, absolutely rock'n'roll!

The title-track 'Dopoguerra''s got once again a very rock'n'roll drumming or rather, let's even say that is probably the best drumming of the whole record; guitars still remind of U2, but are truly powerful and vocals lines are so lovely: you know, sometimes I think about Marco's voice as a male version of
Lene Marlin, don't know if you know her (I write the name of this female vocalist a bit smaller, because I can't really imagine what you'll think about such a comparison, but at times he truly gives me this sensation :D!).

'La tregua'
arrives right after and musically has reminded me a bit of the opening track 'They were wed by the sea'; probably is a lil' bit slower than the opening one. Once again the drumming is great here, especially in the final passages. Guitars work vaguely reminds of  "Stalingrad Theme" from the debut album.

In 'Lomo' we can find a very pop and dreamy use of the vocals. The music is literally involving from the beginning to the end and certain guitars parts sound very wave and also remind of  Novembre. Together with  'Snow of '85' (and the next final song), definitely the song I liked the most from the first listening.

'Sleepwalk in Rome' is just another musical crescendo, which worthly and intensively closes the dances. The central instrumental part vaguely reminds  of The Cure and you can't even think about how beautiful is listening Marco again singing in Italian in the final part of the song! I was so ravished by his voice that I forgot to write down the verses he was singing :P! If they ever include this song in their live set, I'm confident it'll be a memorable moment!Yeah, I really think that the finale with the Italian verses is the top of the song, nevertheless one of the best moments of the whole record. Even guitars sound truly charming.

This certainly is a record in which we can still find some musical influences from more well-known bands that we also recalled after having listened to the debut album, but this time ours have undoubtedly managed to filter 'em better than what done in the previous "Undressed Momento", that's how. It's definitely much more intense, of impact and direct than good part of the songs from the debut album and I'm already lookin' forward to find in the shops, 'coz I wanna hear it again!!!
I also had the chance to give a look at the artwork and the layout of the booklet, but unfortunately I fear I can't tell you anything yet about this, sorry, if not that is coming out an excellent work!
And so I conclude this 2004 wishing you a very Happy New Year, especially to all the beautiful people I've known through this fansite or however thanks to the music of Klimt 1918!!!

::: 11/12/2004 ::: I've just added further enthusiastic reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Beyond Webzine, Jackal Blaster, Metal Fanatix, Metal Judgement and Metallus

::: 05/12/2004 ::: ...and as the rain keeps falling (like Opeth sing :D), I just wanted to begin this new month of December with another couple of interesting Studio Reports taken from Eutk & Metallus. Both are written in Italian, but if you check the site of Eutk - or click here - you can see some nice pictures of the band together with Giuseppe Orlando...

::: 30/11/2004 ::: Here is the Studio Report taken from Metalitalia, as well as an interview to Marco and his personal comments to 5 new songs that Luca & Valentina had the chance to hear during the prelistening of "Dopoguerra": nice way to end November, don't ya think? The Studio Report and the interview are written only in Italian sorry, but I've translated for you the comments to the new songs so that you can have an idea of the new material! If you check the Studio Report directly from the website of Metalitalia - or just click for the link here - you can also see a picture of Marco & Paolo Soellner, together with Giuseppe & Carmelo Orlando (who wears the t-shirt of Klimt 1918!) from Novembre and the luckies Marco & Valentina. Oh, how I would've liked being there as well...

::: 21/11/2004 ::: All you guys from abroad probably don't know that Marco has dabbled in singing a cover of a song called "Vedrai Vedrai" - that you can dowload even here, if the link works correctly :P, otherwise you can visit the blog of the band and download it there, just check the date November, 16th 2004 - originally performed by Luigi Tenco, an Italian singer of the 60's, who unfortunately tragically died, committing suicide, during the biggest Italian musical performance, named 'Festival di Sanremo'. I've thought it would've been of interest for someone of you out there hearing Marco singing completely in Italian such a song, that isn't typically the same kind of stuff he's used to do with Klimt 1918 instead. All was born during Autumn 2003, together with the keyboard-player Francesco Sosto (who also played a short intro for one of the new songs - "They were wed by the sea" - which is gonna to be included in the forthcoming new album "Dopoguerra") and  his Embyro Trio. Meanwhile, it seems that Klimt 1918 have already started working on the 'new' songs...
I wanna hear "Dopoguerra"!

::: 14/11/2004 ::: Here are the original flyers for the release of the demo-tape "Youth - The castle of illusions" of Another Day: flyer # 1, 2, 3 & 4.

::: 13/11/2004 ::: Thanks a lot Leo for linking me on Metal Inside.it :D

::: 08/11/2004 ::: I've also added some new photos of the band in the section Pictures; just have a look. Thanks a lot Alessandro for sending!

::: 07/11/2004 ::: As already told me in the past days, the mastering of "Dopoguerra" will be done at the famous Finnvox Studios of HELLsinki, which have seen already well-known bands such as H.I.M., Moonspell, SentenceD, The 69 Eyes as protagonists (just to name a few). From the blog of Klimt 1918, I learnt that the drummer Paolo & Zaelia Bishop (pls, visit his beautiful website at http://www.zaeliabishop.com) are taking care of the artwork for the new album, while for the cover has been chosen again a picture and it seems that it won't contain  so many colours, but we can't know more for the time being...
I've just added another couple of reviews, one of "Undressed Momento", taken from Nivis-regnum, and another one about the Springtime Fest. - to which even Klimt 1918 took part during May - taken from Metal Inside.it (both in Italian, sorry!).

::: 30/10/2004 ::: Thanks to Wankerness (aka Erik Dietrich), you can download a couple of tabs of Klimt 1918, and namely those of "Parade of Adolescence" - http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,14498 - and "Naif Watercolour" - http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,14268. The software Powertab can be downloaded for free at http://www.power-tab.net/. It may be of interest, even for who doesn't play, bcs can easily listening to the musical file (and maybe sing along)!

::: 24/10/2004 ::: Another couple of reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Doom-metal, Imhotep 'zine Metal Storm and Primal Agony (and the same review can be found even on Walls of fire), as well as an interview from Moonlight (that's in Italian only, sorry!). If I was you, I'd particularly stop on the one taken from Imhotep, that is pretty original, since practically is kind of a nice story which seen as protagonists the leaders of some fundamental bands to which even our Klimt 1918 would refer to.

::: 23/10/2004 ::: Yeaaahhh! I can finally tell it to everybody, cool! As already preannounced me a couple of months ago by Paolo, when I met him during the Agglutination Metal Fest., Klimt 1918 left My Kingdom Music (even if the deal provided the release of a second album too) and signed for the German Prophecy Productions, the label of the various Antimatter, Autumnblaze, Blazing Eternity, Empyrium, Ewigheim, Green Carnation, In the woods..., Leakh, Tenhi, The Vision Bleak...  Here is the message directly from the web-site of the label:

New Prophecy Signing - Klimt 1918 - 22.10.2004

Italian hopefuls in melancholic music,  Klimt 1918,  will release their new album via Prophecy next year. After nostalgic notes of the debut "Undressed Momento", the new album "Dopoguerra" exceeds melancholy and  forces to go ahead and to hope. Nine songs of comforting  and emotional  music. Klimt 1918 combine the Italian atmosphere of artists like Canaan or MonumentuM with the melancholic rock of Anathema and Katatonia. You'll need of it like the smile that's born from tears.

Obviously I can't be but very happy for the band, 'coz their music will surely reach a lot of persons more than in the past, though MKM had undoubtedly done an excellent work with the debut album. The funniest thing of tonite has been the phone message received from Alessandro: 'Hi Mery, this is Ale from K1918 - I have to give you some important news!'. So I gave him a ring (he thougth I was sleeping, while I was already at work on the website writing about such news instead :D), he told me about the news and I told him that actually I already knew everything since time, he, he, he!!! Guess he was a lil' bit astonished...
By the way "Dopoguerra" should be released early next year and therefore we must patiently still wait for a few months! ... but I can't wait any longer!!! By the way, stay tuned for some more news coming soon...
Here also are a few lines from the previous label My Kingdom Music, about the band's departure from its rooster:

Klimt 1918 - Bye Bye my brothers in decadence

While everything was ready for the "Dopoguerra" recordings, we have to announce with pride and a little bit of sure bitterness the passing of the friends Klimt 1918 to the label Prophecy Productions! The cult German label and its boss Martin Koller were really impressed by their debut and offered to the band a deal that was not possible to refuse. I was glad to permit the band to reach this dream and sign for them even if our deal was not closed yet. I want personally wish to the band a great future of satisfactions and success.

::: 10/10/2004 ::: He, he, he... I was sure I kept it somewhere, though it took me a while to find it: the flyer of Another Day and the release of the demo "Youth - The castle of illusions". And there is also the review of the demo itself taken from issue no. 2 of Grind Zone, dated April/May 1997.

::: 03/10/2004 ::: I've just added another couple of Italian reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Hardsounds and Metal-Empire (from this last one there is also the review of the promo "Secession makes post-modern music"... better late than never! Thanx FreezingMoon! It's been a pleasure talkin' a lil' bit with you about Novembre...).

::: 26/09/2004 ::: I'd like to particularly talk about Charcoal and the record "Flowers in the cement", that I had already mentioned for sure some months ago (and there was also something about this record personally written by Marco in the blog of Klimt 1918, late February, but in Italian only :/ so here is Wildhoney that perhaps can translate something of interest for you out there), that is one of the most beautiful and intense records that since then continues to be very often the ideal soundtrack of some days of mine. Here you can find some lines about Fabio Brienza's debut solo project, formerly ex-vocalist & guitarist of Anothery Day... Very amusing note: I ask Fabio which actually is the cover of the album, the one I think - and namely the picture from the homepage of the band site - or the other one 'with the poles of the current' and the white outline and he answers me: 'the cover is the white one, with the picture at sunset on the entrance of the Industrial Archaeology Museum in Rome'. Poles of the current, yeah, of course...

::: 18/09/2004 ::: The band has just completed the guitar's sessions for the new record and now Marco's gonna record the vocals - cold permitting, he, he, he! Here is the track-list of "Dopoguerra":

They were wed by the sea
Snow of '85
Because of you, tonight
Rachel
Dopoguerra
La tregua
Lomo
Nightdriver
Sleepwalk in Rome

::: 12/09/2004 ::: Here is another link to the 'well-made fansite for Klimt 1918' of mine (thanx Emily!) from another fansite dedicated to Six Feet Under (even better than the official one!).

::: 11/09/2004 ::: And as promised me before leaving for summer holidays (thanx Ares!), here is the interview taken from Kinetic. Here below you can find one of the answers I've particularly liked more than all the others and that, as already happened me to do for the conclusion of the interview taken from Psycho! in August 2003, I'd like to mention even here, because (except the last two sentences of course, since I'm not from Rome! - 'Eur' is an area of Rome) it made me think back to the beautiful week-end spent in the capital for the Summer Day in Hell of a couple of months ago. Marco has to explain in an image, if possible, the world in which the music of Klimt 1918 let us plunge into and he answers as follows:

Driving in the dark of the night through the streets of Rome.
In summertime, the smell of limes in bloom,
the hands put out of the windows towards the wind.
The evident inkling of distant fires which burn,
ears that buzz, hair in front the eyes.
The mouth breathes in clouds of memories which have the same,
cool, consistence of the air.
Staring at very distant things on the horizon
and getting lost in the thought of absent persons since a long time.
Closing the eyes, letting go to the nocturnal silence
just broken by the going of the motor which trudges.
The walls painted green, lukewarm after the daily sultriness.
The resolute tracts of Eur
in the middle of lil' woods of oak trees and larches,
the liquid faces of the prostitutes
walking the strees as shading of flesh.
The grandeur  of my neighbourhood
tasted when all ends and all starts.

::: 05/09/2004 ::: ... d'u know whom I met around the middle of August in Chiaromonte (Potenza, Southern Italy), during the 10th Agglutination Metal Festival (to which take also part Novembre: Carmelo, before the gig, and Massimiliano, during their whole performance, wore the t-shirts of Klimt 1918!)? Paolo, the drummer of Klimt 1918 - in charge of the merchandising and the soundcheck - who, very nice, has remembered to bring me the mini-cd "Be nothing but a bit of cold" of Another Day and the t-shirt of Klimt 1918 (which modestly suits me perfectly :D). He also shortly talked me about the drums recording already performed at the end of July, saying that "Dopoguerra" is gonna sound very different from "Undressed Momento", that should be out in January 2004 and who knows if I'll like it... Furthermore, he also invited me to assist to the rest of the recordings of the new album during this month, experience that I'd like very much repeating (in the past I had assisted to part of the recordings of the Promo-tape 2002 of Necromass - R.I.P. - and I remember that day there was even Tommy from Sadist - R.I.P. too - who had recorded a few traces of keyboards; hope you still remember these two great bands!) even because, as already previously said, ours are recording again at the Outer Sound Studios in Rome, owned by Giuseppe Orlando from Novembre, therefore the invitation sounds even more enticing! But due to some family problems, for the time being I don't know if I'll be able to come back in the capital. Shall see what happens.
I've just added other reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Chronicles of Chaos, Metal Domination and Side-line.

::: 30/07/2004 ::: And while the recordings of the drums parts for the new record at the Outer Sound Studios are almost over (Alessandro tells me 'that he likes a lot how the drums is turning out, much more acoustic, powerful and rock!'), I can't really leavin' for holidays without including the review of "Undressed Momento" taken from the webzine Metal Coven, in which the writer even doubts about his sexuality! What he wrote is so funny that I wanna mention it even here: 'But I think the real star here is the incredible voice of singer/lead guitarist Marco Soellner. To put it simply, he has the most beautiful voice of any male singer I've ever heard. Don't get me started on what it does to me when I hear him sing in Italian on the first half of "We don't need no music". Wow. I realize that it might sound a bit odd to hear a perfectly heterosexual guy talking that way about another guy, but it's true. And when you take into account that he also wrote all of the music himself, it's just too much. I admit it. I'm attracted to him. Seriously, I want to have sex with him. I'm not even slightly gay, but I would totally do him if I ever got the chance'. And then someone says that I've screws loose...
In the end, there's a link to my website on Metal Choc, the site of a French radio program (thanx Corinne for your support!). WISH YA ALL A GREAT SUMMER!!!

::: 18/07/2004 ::: I've just added an interview, even if not very recent actually, taken from a Polish webmag, Multum in Parvo (while I haven't been able to find the review of "Undressed Momento" inside the same website :/). Other reviews of the debut album that I found in the web during these last two or three months will follow in September, when I'm back from summer holidays, since at the moment I'm only thinking about vacations (just another couple of weeks and then go for the whole month of August! At least that's what I hope...). Furthermore, in the Links section I've also added a banner to my website  ('simple, but very decadent' - by Ares :D), in case someone was interested in linking me, you never can tell...

::: 07/07/2004 ::: Some good news thanx to Alessandro: the drums' recording sessions of the new record of Klimt 1918, "Dopoguerra", are gonna be recorded during the last week of July, while all the rest will be recorded in September. The new album will contain 9 brand new songs: the lyrix have  been all almost finished (at the moment there are a couple of missing only), even if some titles of the song haven't been decided yet, except those couple we already know (and namely "They were wed by the sea" and the title-track itself).

:::  21/06/2004 ::: There's no other lazier girl but me, he, he, he: with all these summer fests I'm gonna attend lately, the site isn't so up to dated anymore... I hope that in this couple of weeks of so called 'rest' (so to say: a lot of gigs 'round here - Novembre especially!), before leavin' again, I'll also be able to catch up a lil' bit with my work on these pages. Though there aren't so many things happening at the moment or better, I'm waitin' for some good news (Marco, where are you? June is almost over by now: you told me that during this month I could've written something about the musical direction of the new songs... hope to hear something from you soon!), since Klimt 1918 are currently busy in rehearsing, before beginning the recordings of the follow up of the successful "Undressed Momento", and namely "Dopoguerra".
I just wanted to thank sooo much Laura & Roberto from Resurrecturis, for linking me on the dark pages of their mag.
(KLIMT 1918 UNOFFICIAL DEADSITE – excellent fanpage of the band from Rome, Klimt 1918) and I apologize to those who asked me for a banner, since I haven't been able to do anything yet. I hope I'll be able to come out with something original before leaving for summer holidays and destroy myself with some other gigs, ha, ha, ha!!!

:::  30/05/2004 ::: Some pictures from the gig of 10/04/2004 at Transilvania in Civitanova Marche and some other from the gig of 14/04/04 at Alpheus in Rome. And even for this month, that's all folks.

:::  29/05/2004 ::: There is also a third live report about the performance of Klimt 1918 taken from Metalitalia. Curios that who wrote it has found that ours wore ties just like Ephel Duath, exactly the same thing I said about these last ones on a Forum, after having attended their supporting date to Katatonia, since I've written that they were dressed just like Klimt 1918! ... except the ties a lil' bit more 'glittering', disco-music effect, he, he, he!  Hope to translate it soon in English, for it's a very nice live report to read...

::: 24/05/2004 ::: I've also added the live report of the 'Springtime Fest.' by Stefano right here. Two points of views are always better than just one, even if more or less are the same... Thanks however for having sent it!

::: 23/05/2004 :::  Due to some problems of organization, unfortunately the supporting date of Klimt 1918 to Katatonia on 22/05 in Catania, has skipped (more details on the blog of the band which is in Italian and so I translate for you the words written by Marco: 'the reasons are exclusively due to organizational problems. Unfortunately we didn't succeed in finding a satisfactory agreement for our show - any reimbursement from the organization, prohibitive travel costs and lack of an adequate equipment'. By the way, the band hopes to soon be able to play in Sicily!
I've added a couple of live pix of Node for the report of the 'Springtime Fest.' and some other of Klimt 1918 in the section Pictures. Thanks a lot Cinzia & Stefano for sending!

::: 16/05/2004 ::: As written even for the live report, nothing better than celebrating exactly one year from the release of "Undressed Momento" by Klimt 1918 going to attend their gig at the 'Springtime Fest.' of the last Sunday 09/05/2004 in Milan. Here my impressions about the show and the relative live pictures... enjoy!

::: 01/05/2004 ::: Let this new month immediately begin saying that the section 'Words', which would've had to include the lyrix of the songs of Klimt 1918, from both the promo-cd and the debut album, has been removed. This has been done because the band prefers that the lyrix don't appear on the website. I understand the decision from the point of view of who writes music but obviously, as huge fan as I am, I can't really say to fully share it. By the way, I just have to follow what I've been told so, I'm sorry for all those who contacted me asking why the section didn't work or that however asked me for the lyrics... I can't help you! The lyrics however are all included in the booklet of "Undressed Momento", it's only that some verses aren't well readable, since are handwritten, with that effect kind of 'strained' ink which covers some lines/words. For those who don't have the original cd, I warmly suggest you to get a copy, for it costs only 13 Euro through the label of the band My Kingdom Music and, trust me, considered the musical style of Klimt 1918, it is worth buying.
I've also added the English translations of a couple of reviews of "Undressed Momento" taken from Ad Noctum and Power Metal, which were still in German (thanx Chris and Andreas for your help!).
And then, there also are some 'particular' live pictures of the gig at Alpheus of 14/04/2004; have a look right here...

::: 24/04/2004 :::  There is a Live report about the gig of the band on 10/04/2004 at Transilvania (thanx Simone!). As to the gig at Alpheus of some day after, just a few lines to tell you that the band, further to all the songs from the debut album (except "Stalingrad Theme" that, if I were they, I'd play even live sooner or later, since it's always greatly demanded...), to the cover by Brian Eno and the new track "We were wed by the sea" already proposed during other past shows, also played a second new song and namely "Dopoguerra", the title-track from the next record. Dirge and Daniele say that this last one has been almost improvised - it seems that the bass-player Davide didn't remember it... Should've been funny! They also say that the performance of the drummer Paolo has been 'very elegant'. By the way, you can find something more about that night in Rome on the renewed blog of the band.

::: 18/04/2004 ::: I've added a second review which had escaped my notice taken from Metal-Only, as well as the English translation of the review taken from Musikansich (thanks Hendrik!) and an interview taken from Metal-Realm (thanks Menelaos!).
On arrival - hopefully soon - some comments about the gig at Transylvania on 10/04 and at Alpheus on 14/04...

::: 10/04/2004 ::: Today Klimt 1918 are playing at Transilvania Live together with Edenshade. Thanks to a dear friend o' mine who lives round there and who'll go to attend the gig, I think I'll be able to get a live-report about both performances and if everythings goes fine, perhaps some live pix too.
For the rest, the band will officially enter the studio to record the new album around the second half of July, where the recordings will go ahead till the beginning of October, except the summer break during August.
If it may be of interest, I've added some Italian and English translations of some German review of "Undressed Momento", and namely those taken from Amboss Mag., Bright-Eyes and Whiskey-Soda. Thanx a lot to Eller, Oliver and Juergen for your precious help!

::: 04/04/2004 ::: ... and here we also have the playbill of the 'Springtime Fest.'!
Sooo, let's sum up the next live rendezvous with Klimt 1918:

10/04/04
Transilvania Live, Civitanova Marche (Macerata)
+ Edenshade

::: 31/03/2004 ::: Look at the flyer of the gig that Klimt 1918 will play together with Edenshade at Transilvania in Civitanova Marche (Macerata), on 10/04/2004; cool, isn't?!?
As well as the other of the 'Pale Moon Night' that Klimt 1918 will be headlining a few days after at Alpheus in Rome, the 14th of April, along with En Declin, Morgana's Kiss and Kardia...

::: 28/03/2004 ::: So it seems to be confirmed: our Klimt 1918 will play as support act for Katatonia (I wonder why "Brave Yester Days" will be released here in our country...) at Krossover in Scordia (Catania), the 22nd of May. Further dates still in the Southern Italy should be probably added to the one said above, to give life to a sort of real mini-tour in the south of our country. Meanwhile I'm awaiting to get soon "Flowers in the cement" of Charcoal, that Fabio (formerly Another Day) has kindly sent me.

::: 17/03/2004 ::: Just read what stated on the blog of Klimt 1918 about the website I've dedicated to the band, even if I think that everything doesn't work well yet...

Unbelievable! It's online the unofficial site of Klimt 1918! We're truly pleased about this... a sincere thanx to Mery, our big and passionate fan for the work carried out and the devotion to collecting and put in order interviews, reviews, links and much more.

... Thanx to YOU guyz, for your splendid music!

::: 14/03/2004 :::
I've known about another beautiful festival ('Springtime Fest.') which will be held on Sunday, the 9th of May at Indian's Saloon in Bresso (Milan), where further to Klimt 1918 and Edenshade, will also play Node, Gory Blister, Greyswan and Lifend. An opportunity not to miss, for it's even Sunday!
I haven't well understood if what stated in the blog of Klimt 1918 about an eventual supporting date for Katatonia around the 22th of May in Catania (Southern Italy), is reality or not... but I'll investigate! However it may be, since Katatonia will play exactly the day before at Transilvania in Milan (together with Ephel Duath and Ensoph).
Meanwhile the guitarist Alessandro left Spiritual Front, let's say for 'personal reasons' and for completely dedicate himself to the recordings of the second full-lenght album of Klimt 1918, "Dopoguerra" (and namely 'Postwar' in English), which are getting near.

::: 28/02/2004 ::: Klimt 1918 will play as headliners at a mini-festival which will be held at Alpheus in Rome the 14th of April, together with En Declin, Morgana's Kiss and Kardia. Unfortunately this time I won't be able to come back there, for it's a workday, but I'm confident that there will be a lot of people going there from the capital for sure! The band will also play a few days earlier together with Edenshade at Transilvania in Civitanova Marche (Macerata), exactly Saturday, the 10th of April (but that day I'll stay here in Florence attending the so long waited come back of Novembre in my town after several years!). Further live dates however will be added soon on the official website so... watch out!
Besides, it's been working for a few days the blog of Klimt 1918, kind of a logbook exactly, with news about current activity of the band, various impressions and even comments from the fans. Check it out at http://secession-spirits.splinder.com!
Meanwhile has been released "Flowers in the cement", debut cd of Charcoal, Fabrio Brienza's solo project, former vocalist/guitarist of Another Day, band in which even Marco and Paolo Soellner played before its split and Klimt 1918 was formed, who moved to the States (as also stated in the story of the band). Marco himself exhaustively describes the music and the moods contained in this record, in which seems there's a lot of the music of Klimt 1918 themselves and I have to say that I'd really like giving it a listening...

::: 09/02/2004 ::: The section 'Merchandise' on the official site of Klimt 1918 finally works now and further to the  Promo 2000 "Secession Makes Post-Modern Music", you can even find stickers, pins and t-shirts of the band!

::: 30/01/2004 ::: Good news from the website of Metalitalia: Klimt 1918 is the 'newcomer band of 2003' and gained the 16th position as 'best album' of the year just passed (the poll counted about 30 positions)! Here are the lines which accompany their placement as newcomers:

'Very glad to mention as winner an Italian band, Klimt 1918,
who wins this category stepping over many and many concurrents'.

Meanwhile the undersigned, because of bad weather, won't be able to attend their performance of tonite at The Masquerade; I just hope I'll be able to find something about the gig online.

::: 23/01/2004 ::: Interview to Klimt 1918 on Resurrecturis and additional reviews from Agonyzone, Ancient Spirit Magazine, Metal Reference, Quintessence, Rockezine and Whiskey-Soda.

::: 11/01/2004 ::: I've just known that Klimt 1918 will play on Saturday, the 31st of January at The Masquerade, near Piacenza; after the show Alessandro, the guitarist, will also play records in one of the two halls of the place. I hope I'll make a flying visit even there! Here are the few lines which accompany the schedule of their gig on the website of the club:

"Post-modern music" is the definition of this band from Rome...
Beginning from refined metal bases (Novembre, Katatonia, Anathema) it gets rich of influences from the past such as rock, English wave (The Smiths) and the music of the 80's.
The debut album "Undressed Momento" has received unanimous very positive reviews both in Italy and abroad.
Music and art interprenetate in an exceptional high quality gig for the Northern Italy.

as well as a short comment written in the Forum of The Masquerade itself:

In our opinion Klimt 1918 at the moment is one of the best Italian bands, indiscrimintately from the musical styles.
Of course the band's got as starting point a metal basis for sure, but thanks to its creativity and the skilful use of influences and echoes from the past, Klimt 1918 is able to create something terribly exciting, complex but extremely simple, emotionally profitable since the first minutes of listening ... with no limits.
The band defines itself as 'Post-Modern Music' and in a certain way the definition is correct: the music of Klimt 1918 infact is a whole of influecens that in the years have been absorbed and transformed for creating something modern but at the same time able to include the past, something that goes 'beyond' (or 'post', if we want) the usual metal, able to like even the fans of rock in general.
In the debut album "Undressed Momento" (surely one of the best releases of 2003, considering every aspect of the modern music) we certainly hear a metal basis (and what metal! ... we find the more refined and emotional vibes that the metal has been able to offer in the 90's  (Novembre, Katatonia, last Anathema) and over elements coming from the Wave of the 90's (perhaps in its more pop and easygoing meaning, as The Smiths).
Gentle and rocking sounds, beautiful atmospheres, stupend refrains and excellent instrumental tecnique Shortly, one of the wordly newcomers of 2003.
