And so it seems that even this last time,
playing together with
Dredg and
Judgement Day,
Klimt1918 haven't changed at all the usual play-list they've been proposing for
over one year and half, therefore you can even have a look at the past News of
May or June, just in case of
need to refresh your memory :P
(Actually,
just some months after this show, I've known that there have been some lil'
changes instead - and I thank Marco Z1918 for giving me the set-list: ''Passive'',
''Just in case we'll never meet again'', ''Skygazer'', ''Ghost
of a tape listener'', ''Suspense music'' and ''Dopoguerra'').
At bass there was again Paolo, vocalist/bass-player
from
Kardia
(that
you can even see near here in a very nice
pose
right after the show; what a pity having only a couple of photos like this...),
replacing Davide, who had some biz engagements, if I have well understood. And
then, to tell you the truth, I haven't had enough spare time to look for
comments, live reports or pictures of this performance, but since I'm here I
just wanted to tell you that I've added some other nice
live photos and not only taken from
'Ferrara sotto le stelle', since that I've
finally got the complete cd from my travelling companion Angelo (many
thanks again!!! You made me swear to get 'em all!). There are also a few seconds
with a clip of ''Skygazer'',
the passage in which Marco sings the following verses
'...
the universe is mine in this basement
I
hold.
My hands are so cold,
my face is so pale,
with more sky than words I live, season has
changed, each loss of my breath,
I
gaze the blue...'.
Of
course it would be really nice if they could support once again Editors,
who's gonna play exactly next
week here in Italy
- in Rome and in Milan - but unfortunately this time seems that the
English will play together with another couple of bands.

Hello everybody! Back to you with the confirmation
of the live date that Klimt1918 (plus
Judgement Day)
will held
in Rome, at Blackout,
the 25th of october, as supporting act of
Dredg, as you fans from
abroad and not will have already had the way to know some weeks ago,
since the flyers of the gig have been standing
out for days on the their space, but I hadn't been able to come 'round here
earlier. That's a very good chance for the Roman act: I well remember how much
the guys appreciated at that time and guess still like the debut album of Dredg,
''El cielo'' (Paolo
wore exactly a t-shirt with the logo of Dredg on the stage of
'Ferrara sotto le stelle')
and, among other things, I've known Dredg exactly thanks to Klimt1918. It's a
pity that I cannot move so easily during working days and that november will be completely full of other concerts, so I can't go
to Rome neither this time
to catch 'em live but, as usual, I confide in someone of you out there to get
some comments on the event and especially about the performance of Klimt1918 (...
shall we bet on their set-list?!? :P) and maybe some live photos as well.
And since I mentioned Ferrara, I've also added some
pictures together
with the guys from Klimt1918, though they didn't come out so well, perhaps
because it was raining a little
(on the contrary those with Editors came
definitely better).
Unfortunately I haven't gotten yet all the remaining live ones of the
above-mentioned date (wake up
Angelo!).
But since I'm here, although about one year after, I've finally found some live
photos of the band in occasion of the last
night of
'Triora Gothic Halloween
Festival', on 01/11/2008
(all these pictures are by
Giorgio Uccellini,
even editor of HMP, that in the
past featured Klimt1918 for the release of
''Undressed Momento'' and relative
interview, as well as with the review of
the following ''Dopoguerra''; I thank him for
allowing me to share 'em with you and I invite you to visit his personal website):
you'll find funny looking at Klimt1918 all wrapped themselves up, with hats,
scarves, jackets and so on, because who knows how cold it was that night playing
outside!

Finally I've completed the English
translations of the tales that Marco Soellner wrote the past summer for
Loud Vision, in
occasion of the release of the last album ''Just in case we'll never meet
again''!!! So it's nothing new for the Italian fans who will have read 'em for sure at
that time, but I also wanted to translate 'em for the fans from abroad and I really
hope you'll read and enjoy 'em all as much as I liked 'em into Italian. And
maybe these tales passed unnoticed even to someone from Italy and this may be a good
chance to discover 'em: ''The breathtaking days
(Via
Lactea)'',
''Skygazer'',
''Ghost of a tape listener''
and ''The Graduate''. It's a
pity that Marco stopped writing after four songs only, isn't it? During summer
holidays I'll try translating into English even another
'particular' review written in
Italian and published always on the pages of Loud Vision, that practically
summarizes all the songs from the last album and relative suggestions in one only tale.
In the past days I've also been finally able to listen to the brand-new song
published on the digital ep of ''Ghost of a tape listener'', entitled ''Blackeberg
1981''
(neverending thanks to Federico
for sharing the ep with the undersigned who, in spite of the great care - but
probably never enough - has left with no original copy of the cd
:/ ): the song's got a
lenght of about four minutes and half and musically has nothing to do with the
sonorities of ''Just in case...'' or better, in my opinion seems reminding more
of songs such as the rarefied version of ''They were wed by the sea'' or some
passages of ''Never ever'',
published on the bonus cd of the previous album
''Dopoguerra'', as well as the more
acoustic moments of Novembre,
those from ''Arte Novecento'' just to be clear, as I had already written some months ago, when I listened just a few seconds of the beginning of
this song. There's the low voice of Marco and the acoustic guitar and in
fact, in the opening, reminds me very much of the quiet vibes evoked by the
above-mentioned couple of songs or by ''Will'' of Novembre.
Then after the middle of the
song, enter even the drums and the guitars become sharper, while the voice,
yet solemn and almost trembling, lead us to the end of this new and
sincere
episode.
And that's all from me even for this time. I just regret I haven't been able to
publish the other live pictures from the gig in Ferrara, especially those shot
together with the guys from Klimt1918, but I'm leaving for holidays and I didn't
get 'em in time. Wish you to have wonderful summer vacations and talk to you
again in September!!!

also the clip of the song

Just a
short news on the eve of the supporting date with Editors
in Ferrara fixed for tomorrow: Davide of Klimt1918 will be replaced at bass by...
Paolo from
Kardia! Probably you'll remember this band, because they played a few times
together with Klimt1918 in the past - and I also talked about their stuff here
and there on this fansite. I don't know the reason why of this substitution, but
maybe I'll get more info tomorrow when I'm on the place. By the way, though it's
kinda strange taking part to a gig of Klimt1918 without Davide, I'm so happy to
see how Paolo will perform on stage the songs of another band, as well as to
have the chance to meet again an old friend. Talk to you during the week-end for
more details on the show.
And then, as to the live appereance of the band at
Santo Rock Fest.
of the past Saturday, the 19th of June, just a
short comment by a friend o' mine from Genova who told me
that has personally found their set quite weak, the vocals especially; on the
contrary, the performance of the headliners Zu
has been really schocking.
::: 17-18/06/2009
::: Hi guys!
00:50 hour. The
set of
Spiritual Front,
who performed for about half an hour, has just finished a few minutes
ago. As their vocalist/guitarist Simone Salvatori - what a front-man! - repeats among a song and the other,
'tonight they're only three and will play songs in minimal version'.
Yeah, I have to say the same even from the point o' view of the audio, since for almost
their whole set in streaming via web radio
(thanks again Perelà from
Radio Gagarin for the
precious information!),
I've heard like kind of a background echo in the vocals and in the
instruments too. Excellent the final ''Slave'',
with a fantastic pronunciation of the letter 'r' when Simone sings the line of
the chorus saying '... and tight your slipknot 'rrrrround my white neck'. Idol.
Unfortunately I can't say the same of another fave songs o' mine from this cult
act performed even tonight, namely ''Jesus died in Las Vegas'', that didn't
turn out very well in my opinion.
However I had taken part to a real gig of this band just one month ago 'round
here, hence I've nothing to complain about. By the way, the night started around
23:00 (though I connected about one hour before and I've been
able to also listen to the soundcheck
of
Klimt1918), with the set of Divenere
first and
The Jersey Line
to follow, who play both about 30 minutes, 4 or 5 songs each. To tell you the
truth, I didn't particularly liked the
voices of their singers though, perhaps,
in studio are surely better. Or simply, from the musical point o' view they
didn't involve me so much, because I was lookin' forward to hear Spiritual Front
and especially Klimt1918 adored playing. By the way, Divenere were more
interesting with English vocals than Italian. The Jersey Line sing in
English and their vocalist thanks even Klimt 'don't remember which year'... we're
going well, ha, ha, ha!!!
Spiritual Front say goodbye to the audience and Simone Salvatori let us to 'the
great Klimt1932'
- ... again!?!... - who start some minutes before 01:00
and end half an hour later: 'Welcome
to Caribs',
says Marco. I don't know when you live guys, but here in Italy's been very hot
in this last week. And maybe the heat has affected a lil' the course of the
show, because I'm not so satisfied at the end of the gig. Of course, I'm not
phisically there, but I felt like the band could've played with some more verve,
that's how. They begin with ''Rachel'' and luckily the audio is alright, even if
initially the voice seems a bit higher than the instruments, but then it gets
better. Follows
''Skygazer'' ('... it's fuckin' warm up here', adds Marco in a typical Roman way
of saying), with an outstanding drumming in the opening, Marco mistakes some
verse here and there, but however sings with much inspiration and even the
choirs in the background by Francesco are pretty good. Then it's time for ''Snow of '85'',
but I lose the final part, since my connection fails for a few minutes, ''The Graduate'', ''Ghost of a tape listener', dedicated
to all the fans there and the last one ''True love is the oldest fear'', that
made me a better impression live than on the record, perhaps because of the version
a bit more in the style of The Cure in which was performed tonigh. There's not
enough time for encore, though the fans shout for it with one voice. However I've
been told from Marco Z1918 - the guy who sent me the set-list of the gig
together with Casiṇ Royale - that the fans asked the band to play ''Because
of you, tonight": all the others but Marco had already cut off power from their
instruments, so he decided to play it on his own and let the fans sing it!!!
Cool, isn't it? Hello to
all the guys from the radio chat with whom I entertained talkin' and makin'
witticism during the night at Init
('Klimt182' was very bad
anyway!
:D)
and continue to keep an eye on these pages, because maybe we will
even get the interview done by someone from the radio with Klimt1918 the same
night of the gig. And thanks to jonny90rm for the flyer of the show!
::: 16/06/2009
::: Here is the set-list of the gig
that Klimt1918 held a couple of weeks ago at Qube in Rome, supporting Casiṇ
Royale (thanx
Marco Z1918 for providing it!):
"The Breathtaking Days
(Via Lactea)'',
"Skygazer", "Snow of '85", "The Graduate", "Rachel", "Ghost of a tape
listener", "Because of you, tonight" (personally dedicated
by Marco Soellner to the fans attending the show!)
and "True
love is the oldest fear". It's more or less the same one as the past
month, except 3 or 4 songs less that surely the band couldn't perform because of
lack of time for their set.
Just another couple of lines to remind you that tomorrow, Wednesday, the 17th,
the band is gonna play once again in Rome, exactly at
Init,
together with Spiritual Front,
The Jersey Line
and Divenere;
unfortunately I haven't been able to find a decent flyer for this night, as the
only one appeared on the website of the club, is an old promo photo shot for the
release
of ''Dopoguerra'' (actually
I would've found one and I asked to get it as .jpg,
so that I can add it later
on). Furthermore, Klimt1918 will even play
Saturday, the 20th,
at
Santo Rock Fest.,
together with several other bands from our beautiful Italy. I haven't decided anything yet for this
Saturday and so I think I
won't go neither this time and that
I'll patiently wait till the next Wednesday, the 24th, when the band will
support Editors
in occasion of the summer fest.
'Ferrara sotto le stelle':
I've been hoping to the very last moment since the day I knew about the come back of Editors for
their only summer date in our country that Klimt1918 would've played as
supporting act, since the gig was organized by
DNA Concerts, that's exactly the same roster to
which even our Klimt1918 adored make part, as I had already mentioned somewhere
in the news of the past month.
You can't even imagine my reaction when I connect this evening just to remind you
about the couple of live dates of this week and then, surprise!surprise!... I read that my lil'
dream will come true. 'Hurraaaaah!!!' - it's the only word I wrote by sms to
Paolo ha, ha, ha!!! Therefore, I confide in someone of you who's gonna attend
the gigs in Rome and Genova: I'm
already lookin' forward to get some comments, set-lists, pictures, clips and so
forth. As for the date in Ferrara, if everything goes fine, I'll finally be able
to personally tell you something about!
P.S.: Back to you once again, 'coz
I've just received a mail saying that the gig of Wednesday, the 17th, at
Init in Rome will be broadcasted via web radio to promote the re-opening of that
club, hence you can connect to
http://www.radiogagarin.eu and listen to all the bands playing, supposed
that the audio is good, of course.
::: 07/06/2009
::: Klimt1918 played once again at
Qube in Rome this Thursday, the 4th of June, supporting Casiṇ Royale.
It seems that the band played very well, though the well known audio of that
club has inevitably penalized their set. Compliments to the authors or however
the printers of the manifests of this
gig, who renamed the band from Klimt1918 to Klimt1932, and who also
made a mistake in writing the monicker of the headliners!!!
As to the performance of the band at the Wave Gotik Treffen of the past week-end,
here is a clip found on youtube which will make you feel sick, because of the
shots a bit blurred by devalab, for the song
''Snow of
'85''.

::: Here is the complete set-list
of the gig held held at Qube in Rome, on Thursday, the 7th of May: ''The breathtaking days
(Via Lactea''), ''Skygazer'', ''Passive'', ''Snow
of '85'', ''The Graduate'', ''Rachel'', ''Ghost of a tape listener'', ''Because
of you, tonight'', 'Nightdriver'', ''True love is the oldest fear'', ''Parade of
adolescence'' and ''Just an interlude in your life''. Thanks to °Iri
for having provided it in a topic about Klimt1918 on the forum of the Italian
site dedicated to Billy Corgan
& The Smashing Pumpkins: I would've liked that someone had shot live clips
even of most dated songs proposed that night, such as ''Passive''
or ''Parade of adolescence'', and even of the most recent ''Just an interlude in your life''
that in my opinion alive, just like on the record, must have such a huge impact,
but haven't found anything so far.
As
to the appereance of the band to the gig organized last Thursday, the 14th of
May, at the University La Sapienza in Rome, you can see a couple of live
pictures
(by vin.ds) right sideways and the clip shot for
''The Graduate'',
found on youtube
(by ilsolenudo): they absolutely have to perform a song entitled like this, when
playing at the university, don't you think :) ?!?
The next live gig with Klimt1918 is fixed for Sunday, the 31st of May, in
occasion of the XVIII
Wave Gotik Treffen, that is yearly held in Leipzig, Germany: is there anyone
of you going there? Meanwhile I've just recently read that the band is playing
once more in Rome, and exactly at
Init,
on Wednesday, the 17th of June, together with other Italian acts and namely
Spiritual Front (which
I highly recommend you!),
The Jersey Line
and Divenere:
certain that those from the capital had several chances to catch the band live
from the release date of the last album. I hope I could move at least to take
part to the
Santorock in Genova, on Saturday, the 20th of June, though my biggest dream
currently would be catch 'em live supporting Editors
a few days after always here in Italy, in occasion of the summer fest
'Ferrara sotto le stelle',
since the show is organized by
DNA Concerts, that's exactly the same roster to
which even our Klimt1918 adored make part.
::: 10/05/2009
::: Well then, this time, after
having read some short comments on the
'Fragile Dream'
Forum,
it really seems that during the last gig of Klimt1918 at Qube in Rome everything turned out
well and that the sounds were even better than those of the concert of end
October 2008 held at
Circolo degli Artisti: the
set-list has been exactly the same as the
last gigs dated 2008, except the
performing of the less recent ''Passive'' from the promo
''Secession makes post-modern music'', as I had
however already told you about at the end of
February, when the performance in the same club was stopped and then postponed. Here you are
some live pictures by Dyeing Atheist
(thanks), as well as several nice live clips of some of the songs performed, by jonny90rm:
''The
breathtaking days (Via Lactea)'',
''Skygazer'',
''Snow of '85'',
''Rachel'',
''Ghost of a tape listener'',
''Because
of you, tonight'' e
''Nightdriver''. Among other things, it seems that Klimt1918 will play again
in Rome, next Thursday, the 14th of May, in occasion of a free show organized
for the Children from the Roman jail of Rebibbia: the gig will be held at the
University La Sapienza. I read that there will be even other Italian artists,
but to tell you truth I haven't found so many info about this show. Anyway, it's
been organized for a right cause and probably some fans from the capital will go
there and we may have the chance to get some other comments for these pages,
though probably the band won't play a real gig, but just a couple of songs, at
least that's what I think.
::: 03/05/2009
::: Don't know how many of you out
there will have had the chance of listening to the digital ep in this last month
that I haven't updated the fansite... Unfortunately I didn't, because as
already written before, I don't download music and I'm not su much interested in
buying online or better still, I think it's a choice rather incoherent for a
band who subtitled the last record 'Soundtrack
for the cassette generation', but that's probably what times say nowadays (or
simply the budget at their disposal) - and
it seems I don't absolutely want to adapt myself to these mordern times :).
So, waiting for listening this blessed new song,
''Blackeberg
1981'' (to tell you the truth, I've heard just a few seconds of this unreleased
track:
just click on the title of the song itself), I just want to remind you about the
performance at
Qube in Rome
fixed for Thursday, the 7th of May, when Klimt1918 will recover
the gig of end February, which was stopped because
of electricity problems. Hope things will turn out better this time.
Then I also wanted to report a chart I found on the web, concering similar bands
and relative records to Katatonia, in which even our
Klimt1918 adored appear, exactly at # 2, with the song ''That girl'' from their debut album of 2003,
''Undressed
Momento'': perhaps you will have already run into such chart, just watching
some clips here and there, but since I've read it only recently, I thought it
would've been nice to quote it even here on these pages: although Klimt1918, in
a certain way, have
always been trying to keep distances from certain sonorities or however to
distinguish themselves from such bands that
in the past could've however more or less influenced their style,
the band continues to be always more appreciated exactly by that part of audience
who prefer those sounds. Obviously granted that this chart includes a song that
the band recorded about 6 years ago. Further to Klimt1918, it's been mentioned even
two other Italian bands, of which I've often told you about,
and namely (disappeared?) Room with a view, and my all times fave Italian band,
my darling Novembre, as well as other fave records o' mine, as those of
Rapture
and of The Loveless - included the one you can recognize in avatar of the guy who
compiled the chart (though has nothing to do with Katatonia or similar
sonorities), that is that jewel of alternative rock music entitled ''Twinaleblood''
thanks to Pyogenesis, weird German act who, unfortunately, lost its way a few years later...
And just let me also add that is truly worth listening to or simply go deep into
the
bands here below mentioned.

::: I didn't have the faintest idea
that with the release of the
videoclip of
''Ghost of a
tape listener''
(finally!),
our Klimt1918 adored would've almost released an ep at the same time
(official release date for
Prophecy
Productions: 10/04/2009),
which is gonna be available in limited digipack edition
(250 copies)
exclusively 'for Prophecy club members
and from the ProMedia online store',
as well as downloadable even in digital format. Meanwhile, to crown all this,
''Just in case we'll never meet again'' will also be released on
vinyl! To tell you the truth, I would've preferred the actual 'material' release of this ep,
that is I would've liked to find it directly in the shop where I usually buy
records or maybe during a live gig of the band itself,
since I'm not so much into these latest things to download or to be ordered by
internet
(fuckin' old style :D!)
- therefore I already doubt I'll be able to get a copy, but however I can
always
try!
- anyway, besides the song at issue for which the band shot its first video, the ep
will contain another fantastic track taken from the last album,
''Skygazer'' and, especially, a new song entitled ''Blackeberg 1981''
(that reminds a lil' to the historic
''Schmerzwerk 1976''
from the 'construction' of the title...),
which I'm lookin' forward to listening to, just to understand if it more or less
follows the same musical paths as ''Just in case...'' or perhaps is already
going somewhere else. I would've liked you to remind you
to read once again the tale written by Marco some months ago for
Loud Vision,
but unfortunately I haven't translated it yet into English, though now I intend
to finally do it in the next days, so I can even practise a bit
(the funny thing is that while I write or read in Italian, most of the times I
translate automatically even into English, the only problem is that I don't
have enough time to write down even into English here at pc).
As to the videoclip, well, maybe from the tale you'll sooner or later read from Loud
Vision,
it kinda comes out a more romantic and nostalgic side of a certain period of
your own adolescence or youth in general, related not only to the listening of
that particular cassette or that album, but even because of some places, people,
moments,
events, while from the vision of the clip clearly comes out sort of a message
that makes you almost think about cassette such as something of 'sacred and
untouchable' in this ultratechnological contemporary society, although in the last 15 years probably
it's been considered old-fashioned and replaced by well other formats or other
supports and put
away who knows in which drawers, shelves or whatever in our rooms, while for
others is still a reason of pride in memory of those years spent making
tape-trading
(I know well what it means, also my mother and even the old postwoman when still
meets me nowadays, he, he, he)
and consequently to make friends with someone, either with other listeners or
members from the bands themselves
(how forgetting those mountains of letters all rigorously put in order according
to dates now lying in the boxes up there in the attic...),
close and far friendships that sometimes, even today, have resisted the passing
of time. Not only something related to the friendships born in those crazy years, but
even to the way in which, I guess, those over thirty years like me, set
themselves about listening to a new record or discovering some new bands. Well,
here the subject gets complicated
and
I don't think these pages are the ideal place where discussing about the wild
download and so on, but should be interesting for you to read what Marco says
for some Italian interviews published after the release of ''Just in case...'',
so that you could see that more or less we agree. By the way, I can't do
anything else but thanking all those with whom, since the cassettes of the early
90s and later with the coming of cd, have always exchnged music with me, not only
for the memorable music we discovered and shared, but even for the beutiful old
friendship. For th rest, I think the clip is very nice, even the colours - as we
had already noticed from the first frames put
on line
a couple of months ago, the
location where it's been shot looks wondeful -
even if I remind you that it was shot around the end of July 2008 and that it
was sooo hot, though the band pretended to play, Paolo excluded, who took quite
pains behind the drums, he, he, he - the bike is terrible, while the old freak
Ford is fantastic indeed, as well as all the frames of the guitarist Francesco who,
further pretending to play, even sing some verses of the song here and there... enjoy it
and just interpret it as you think best!

from the gig stopped because of electricity
problems the past 26th of Februrary at Qube in Rome. This live date will be
recovered on Thursday, the 7th of May, always in the same club, hoping
that for that night things will turn out better. Presumably we won't be able to
watch the clip of ''Ghost of a tape listener'' till then...

::: I would've liked to conclude
this month of February with some nice comments about the performance our
Klimt1918 adored of Thursday but unfortunately, as I've known wandering here and
there in the net in these last couple of days, the night didn't properly go as
we expected. Reading some more detailed comments on the
Fragile Dream
Forum, by Blind Guardian and Kompany, after five songs only, electricity started
dropping always
more,
till going completely off afterwards, putting an end to the show, since the
problem couldn't be solved. And it
didn't go well neither with the presentation of
long waited clip for ''Ghost of a tape listener'', since electrictiy went off on
the screens as well. As to the audience, it seems it was pretty quite. Sounds
were more or less the same as the previous gig in Rome, held the past 25th of
October at
Circolo degli Artisti,
with the voice a lil' lower than guitars, while drums was more marked this time.
Unfortunately I have no idea how long the set would've lasted and which other
songs the band would've played, but from those five titles you can read here
below there is definitely one above all the others, since seldom you would've
had the chance to hear it live, unless you didn't catch ours playing always in
Rome, at Ex-Magazzini Generali, together
with
Novembre and
VII Arcano,
back in the distant May 2001:
''The breathtaking days (Via Lactea)'', ''Skygazer'',
''Passive'' (!!!)', ''Snow
of '85'' e ''The Graduate''. After that, the blackout only
:/ Hope to get some live photos. As regards the videoclip instead, hope to watch
it soon somewhere in the net, but I haven't found nothing so far...
::: 15/02/2009
::: Here I am just to
remind you of the gig
(for free!
:D ) that Klimt1918 will held in a
couple of weeks at
Qube, in Rome,
on Thursday, the 26th of February, when they'll also - and
finally! - present their first live clip shot last July for the song ''Ghost of a tape listener''.
As for me, I can't absolutely think to go down to Rome on Thursdays,
because of my work
(and in fact I ask myself why all these interesting gigs in the capital are
always held on Thursdays, Fridays or Sundays - and even on Saturdays,
right when yours truly has already bought tickets for other
concerts since time...), but I
wanna wish you to enjoy the clip and that maybe the band changes a bit
the set-list if compared with its last live performances of end 2008,
'cos I think that the ''Just in case...'' contains even other
worth playing live songs, as well as there would be several memorable
oldies from the previous ''Dopoguerra'' and ''Undressed
Momento'' which really had to be performed for the audience joy. Among other
things, always at Qube, shortly will also play
Novembre together
with The
Foreshadowing,
that is not so bad at all. Bands like these should even play 'round here where I
live, but actually I have nothing to complain about. In
fact, and since I haven't
been able to find any flyer of the gig that Klimt1918 are gonna held in Rome so
far, I
take advantage to advertise another live event that personally I've been waiting
with anxiety for years and namely the come back of my old idols TiamaT -
alive exclusively, since from the point o' view of the last releases, in
my opinion, they've unfortunately lost their way about ten years ago -
and The 69 Eyes.
At least I will cheer up a little, considering that I won't be able to catch
Klimt1918 live neither this time. As usual, if there is anyone of you out there
who'd like to send me some live pictures or a few lines about the gig, I'm here.
Thanx!

::: Here is the
review translated into
English of ''Just in case we'll never meet again'', voted as
album of 2008 on the Belgian
Indiestyle.
Thanks Bart!

::: A few artistic
pictures by Ilaria (thanx!)
from the gig at the
Zoe Club
in Milan of the middle of December
and some
frames
from the clip shot for ''Ghost of a tape listener'' directly from the
band's
Facebook, though you would've probably already checked out everything in the
past days. Well, it seems that sooner or later we will be able to enjoy this
blessed video, doesn't it ?
Then, as you will have also surely read lately on their
myspace, ''Just
in case we'll never meet again'' gained #1, as absolute best album of
2008, from Bart Somers'
Top Ten of the Belgian
Indiestyle.
I've noticed that the record was even reviewed for this site and asked for an
English translation,
but haven't received an answer yet so far; by the way, I
noticed that it gained an excellent rating
(4.5 points out 5)
and that it would've been included for sure in the Top Ten at the end of the
year.
Personally, from the musical point o'
view, I don't really know the other bands mentioned in Bart's list, but since
it's a Belgian site and that we're talkin'
about bands or records that left a mark during 2008, I would mention a band from
that country
that really drives me crazy and namely
dEUS, strong not only for a
last new fanciful and weird record such as ''Vantage point'', but even for
several live dates held here in my country, but even in the rest of Europem
during the past year. Besides, as for me, actually I haven't listened to so many
new or old bands in 2008, but for sure my faves have been once again
Magenta Skycode,
that I had already mentioned at the end of 2007 and, especially,
Editors
and Malory.
Ah! I haven't well
understood yet if the Italian live date fixed for the 26th of February, at
Qube,
in Rome, is confirmed or not, as I cannot find more information about the events
organized by
RadioRock,
but it's always mentioned almost everywhere in the web, so I presume it will be
held and, however, I won't be able to attend neither this one :/
Hope to come back soon on these pages with more live pictures, reports and
several reviews of our Klimt1918 adored, spare time permitting.

::: Some live
pictures
of Klimt1918 during the gig at
Monospaziobar in Pescara the
past 26th of December:
the set-list remained exactly the same as that from the previous live
dates in 2008, as you can clearly see from the photo right here
(the shoes changed colour instead, ha, ha,
ha !!!). The club
was packed, though not everybody was there to attend the gig of the two
bands performing that night
(our Klimt1918 adored as
headliners and their fellow-citizens
Kardia
as support):
in the beginning, Klimt1918 seemed to be a bit hesitant but then,
already from the second song, took more confidence and Marco even made
some jokes in Roman. The performance didn't last so much, but was
convincing, with pretty good sounds, in spite of the small club.
Excellent the new songs alive, not to mention those taken from the
previous ''Dopoguerra'', definitely creepy!
After performing the last song from the set-list, the audience
unanimously shouted for another bis, and particularly for some songs
from the debut album, while the guys from Klimt1918 would've preferred
playing again some songs which had already been included in the set-list
of the night... but after a while the club dj started to play his
songs, putting an end to any kind of request for a further bis. Thanks a
lot Simone for the pictures and the short report!
::: 06/01/2009
::: Happy New Year and welcome back
on these pages !!!
Let's start 2009 with a live report of the gig of Klimt1918 held
at the
Zoe Club in Milan
the past 12th of December, taken from the blog of Stefano Bartolotta (who
writes for Indie-Rock),
awaiting to receive also some comments and some nice live pictures from
the latest live date of the 26th of December in Pescara (c'mon Simone!).
Furthermore, there is an interesting Italian
special dedicated to Gothic Metal (and generally to all the
Metal releases of 2008),
taken from Metallized,
in which Stefano Asti, who reviewed the last ''Just in case...'', talks
once again about heroes, writing as follows:
'Among
the best successful records, and from all viewpoints, in my opinion there
are a couple to contend for the crown: on one hand, there is
Klimt1918 of ''Just in case we'll never
meet again'', an album in which, abandoned almost completely metallic
sonorities, the Roman band paints marvellously gloomy and decadent
sceneries in whose loosing yourselves is a joy for the soul. It's a
platter that completely captures you after many listenings, in the beginning
I was even going to set it as the worse episode of their discography,
but I had to change my mind. Trust me, give it some chances, and will be able to
ravish you too'. Just for your information, the other band is
Sopor Aeternus of ''Sanatorium Altrosa'' but please, just have a look
yourselves to this special above said, even just to take note
of some names and records.
And last - but not least, could they haven't yet a personal page on
Facebook
??? Absolutely no, of course. And in fact they're just building one at
the following address
http://it-it.facebook.com/pages/KLIMT1918/29429361555, where
maybe you can directly ask them about the phantom videoclip of ''Ghost
of a tape listener''
(that rightly
became 'ghost' as the one evoked in the song itself
:D,
considering it was announced for September 2008...)
or anything else. Cheers
