Klimt 1918 "Undressed Momento"

::: Review taken from Whiskey-Soda, Germany :::

Thanks Juergen for your English translation and your honest opinion about this album.
I regret that you felt a lil' bit disappointed by this record, though Orkus loved it
and hence you also hoped it would've been really really great.
If you think that there is more potential in these guys than what they've showed herein,
this gives me hope for an outstanding come-back.
Nevertheless thanks for having said that my website is great
and even better of many official homepages!

-----oooOooo-----

This is quite obscure what we are served by Klimt 1918. It already begins with the strange name Klimt 1918, since a direct connection to the famous painter is nowhere to be seen. Musically, it is even stranger what we hear on "Undressed Memento". They undoubtedly are oriented in the same direction as bands similar to Canaan, Blazing Eternity, Anathema or Antimatter. Strange is that the singer's voice is a very hard rock-stylish.
If one needs to make a comparison, Canaan would be the best pick. Heavy Metal Guitars meet Gothic-Rock melodies, with a few breaks, and sometimes getting very soft. With a huge promotion campaign, Klimt 1918 would surely have success with the (a bit more intellectual part of) MTV audience.
With time running, the music starts unfortunately to become a little bit boring, until the end, when it seems that Klimt 1918 does not have that much left to tell about. It is music that would fit any cocktaillounge without having any guests protesting about too loud music. There are nice melodies, nice breaks, nice italian parts in the lyrics, but there is no roughness, no edges, no aggressivity. I guess it was not intended to be aggressive, but slightly more power would do some very good to this band. It does perfectly fit if you are into metal and you're having a party with mostly non-metallers as guests, and you don't want any stupid chartmusic as background.
Usually, this kind of music should be overwhelming with feelings, sadness or melancholy. Klimt 1918 can do it, that can be heard on the album. Unfortunately, they do not do it enough. Of course, this is not at all bad, on the contrary, it is good music. It's just a little lack of emotional intensity.
